Southampton Town lawmakers walk out of discussion on MTA lawsuit

The MTA along with our systemically corrupt state government have now come up with a precedent setting new way to pick the taxpayers pockets without our politicians "raising taxes". With ten thousand vice presidents making 100K a year the incompetent donut eating crooks at the MTA along with their cohorts in our state Gov should not be allowed to get away with this boondoggle. Yes, this should be a very open public discussion, I commend our town leaders for bringing this lawsuit, if we can only bring in LIPA ! " Jul 23, 10 7:15 PM

PS. I also commend 27 East for making me aware of this criminal act by the MTA." Jul 23, 10 7:17 PM

Restaurant owner will not open cafe at Poxabogue Golf Center

As usual the incompetents in government at the local level, East Hampton Town, and Southampton Town, just like their counterparts in the State and Federal governments put their ego's, nepotism and misguided direction into play and "We, the People " are, ultimately solely accountable.
I would like to commend 27 East News for this article, I had been cursing the "powers that be" for the short sighted, obvious money grab perpetrated on the local residence of both towns. I also vowed never to put a foot inside the restaurant, whoever opened there.
Fairway Restaurant, unlike most of the restaurants on the east end was one of my favorite destinations; I had many great breakfast and lunches over the years there.
Recently, I had the pleasure of being introduced to Love Lane Kitchen; in fact I have dined there at least five times in the past few months of 2010. Until this article I had no idea that "Love Lane" was being considered or that the Town's had in fact chosen Love Lane for the replacement restaurant.
I have learned something from this problem and this problem exposes just how incompetent, obsolete and how systemically corrupt the system of our Federal, State and Local governments have become. Insofar as "We, the People" have to pay for by way of taxation for this level of incompetence, it seems obvious, at least to me, that Government should be mandated to hire qualified professionals to make decisions.
" Aug 8, 10 10:51 AM

In addition to my earlier rant regarding the T.of S.H and E. H Towns incompetence, I missed an important point; in this instance government wants it both ways, to charge rent and mandate business policy i.e. liquor license, hours of operation. In addition to being incompetent slackers in their lives, I suppose our elected officials are accomplished restaurateurs

Maertz to face off against LaValle in Calcaterra's stead

Nassau and Suffolk Counties do not need a State Senste or State Assembly. In the passed 50 years both county's are paying the HiIGHEST PROPERTY TAXES IN THE COUNTRY. Does Shoreham, LILCO ring a bell? how about the money that was stolen in take over by LIPA? now we have National Grid running the show and my electric bill went up 50% from last year! No we need to put THE ENTIRE SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT OUT TO PASTURE ! THEY ARE ALL OWNED, BOUGHT AND SOLD BY CORPORATE ROBBER BARONS." Aug 21, 10 9:26 AM

New proposal for religious boundary on public roads spurs questions in Westhampton Beach

Jackie Mason says " your Honor I'm entitled" The eruv is divisive, and exclusionary, isn't it just like any other fundamentalist religious groups to try to incrementaly impose religious dogma? How about an imaginary eruv? " Sep 8, 10 11:12 PM

Occupants evicted from former Guldi home in Westhampton

Isn't it amazing two presumed educated commentors and they still haven't learned, even after the last two years of "transparency" that our system of government is systemically corrupt. That there isn't ANY difference between Republicans or Democrates. The Untited States is completely controled by Corporist interests and Corporate Personhood. " Sep 11, 10 9:46 AM

Dan's Papers sold

Who cares? What a waste of paper. I like 27 East. " Sep 11, 10 9:54 AM

Rechlers pick up demolition permit applications for Canoe Place Inn

If I were the Rechlers, I would do a joint venture with the Shinnicock Indians and build a casino marina resort hotel with all the trimmings. Hell a good case could be made to secede from the the usa, and form there own country. The Town of Southampton and the State of New York would get "ZERO" in taxes. I can tell the Rechkers exactly how to accomplish this venture. rrc1049@Yahoo.com. " Oct 3, 10 11:04 AM

Throne-Holst: No layoffs in 2011 tentative budget

The ToSH is a small mirror of the US gov. Systemic Corruption of our system of government starts in the Tosh and goes straight to the top of the US gov. The system is broken. Taxing and spending to subsidize pension plans at 50% and better for local, state and federal employees has been the cancer that has divstated this country. " Oct 3, 10 11:20 AM

Rechlers still have not made decision on whether to demolish Canoe Place Inn

The ToS.H. better wake up and cut spending. Where did all the money go? I'll bet to thew lawyers, who fight the battles statred by the ego maninacs who run the town. How do you spell obsolete and incompetent?
Let the owners of CPI put up a casino with the Indians! " Oct 9, 10 9:27 AM

Bid To Bag Leaf Pickup

East Hampton, the MOST VISITOR UNFRIENDLIEST DISTINATION IN NEW YORK.
The pick-up the leaves or not to pick-up the leaves question? why should the residents of the town be treated fairly? the doughnuts eating workers in the town (most of whom post here) should pick up the leaves in thier off time out of the goodness of there hearts, thanking there lucky stars that they are not self-employed. A little give back would go a long way to mend fences. " Oct 17, 10 6:00 PM

Heaney Seeks Nomination To Run Against Schneiderman

I am happy to see that 99% of the opinion's are against political hacks like Mr. Heaney. Since The Town of S.H. is a microcosm of the federal system of government tax and spend. It is refreshing to see more people are recognizing the systemic corruption that starts at the local level in both parties. I can only hope "We, The People", can change our corrupt system of government before its to late. " Mar 15, 11 9:39 AM

Court Bans Sale Of Tax-Free Cigarettes By Tribes

Well at least the federal gov is consistent. Throughout time our leaders have stuck-it to the Indian. I say they should continue to sell cigarettes at whatever price they want on there land cause its their property rights. I hope they build a casino right in the middle of Hampton Bays, a Trump Marina like casino. I hate what our hypocritical government does to our native American Indian brothers and sisters, while at the same time taxing and selling the very same tobacco, gambling, etc... This is a "Rights" issue; one thing that is transparent is the systemically corrupt system of government, this time thru the courts, that makes me sick. " May 14, 11 9:21 AM

Nassau County To Support Shinnecock Casino At Belmont

Open the casino here, now, before some other county gets the money. Can't Southampton Town use the money? maybe just like in the old days before corruption, extra money would reduce the tax levy. " May 18, 11 11:15 PM

You know the East End is a combination beach, second home, vacation, world class multi use community. What kind of closed minded, cry baby politician does not want a full blown resort casino marina hotel in the Hamptons? Will someone please tell me what kind of negative economic thinking is going on here? Besides screwing the Indians once again, the obsolete, incompetent and systemically corrupt system of government in the Town of S.H. yet again figured out how to stay broke in perpetuity. Town Looks To Take First Step To Regulate Wastewater

This is the T.oS.H. " testing the waters" before bonding a sewer system mandate. The Carney's at the town think they can sell a reason to double property taxes. When will "We, the People" wake up and stop voting and stop paying taxes to the morons who are part of a systemically corrupt system of government? " Jun 5, 11 12:42 AM

Southampton Town Board Considers $125 Million CPF Bond Recommended By Panel

Who gets the commission on the $125 M ? somebodies cousin on the town board? Isn't Mr. Anrig a Real Estate Broker? or his wife? or his cousin? or his brother in law? I am going to follow up on this fiasco, this folly, this rip-off. YOU GUYS BETTER DOT YOUR "I" s and cross your "T" s. EVERY ONE WILL BE WATCHING........" Jul 29, 11 10:09 PM

You are correct Gusbeme, however just like everyone else in this economy the town overspent in the past and now that the opportunity is ripe they have to borrow the money. " Jul 30, 11 12:59 PM

Noyac Road Project Won't Happen In 2011

Mr. Gregor is incompetent. What kind of education and experience does he have to qualify him to run the Town of S.H. highway dept? The Town of S.H. should have fired him months ago. The State of NY has to many highway departments, does every local, county and state, town, city and county need its own highway department? If all highway departments were combined, we would not have the lousy pot hole roads I drive on in the Town. All I see, feel and hear from the Town of S.H. Government is incompetence and negligence. Fix Noyac Road after Labor Day, Mr. Gregor you moron. Oh and by the way your comment " the public doesn't care for the project" where? what public? your fellow doughnut eating, lazy employes? document your statement. You sir exactly what is wrong with our local government. " Jul 30, 11 4:00 PM

Dear Clam Pie, I'll tell you what I talked about. I talked about how LIPA, National Grid, The Suffolk County Water Authority et-al continually tear up our roads to install gas, electrical lines and water pipes. These guys don't do a great job repairing the damage they create, they leave the roads a mess, in most instances, a driving hazard. I also went on to say that your beloved Highway Dept "head" never inspects or holds the Authority's accountable for the lousy job in repairing the damage they cause. Is it because "he" is held back by Mr. Malone? or is just to hard to figure out that the taxpayers pay his local highway dept salary and it to easy to let LIPA et-al off the hook. The Tof S.H Building Dept holds contractors to code standards, if its not repaired correctly then you have to redo it. 90% wrong I don't think so; besides what would you or Mr. Gregor know about roads in Bridgehampton ? You or Mr. Gregor NEVER drive around and check the roads out, I'm sure the roads where you live are perfect. I would be happy to drive either one of you around Wainscott , Bridgehampton or Watermill, maybe the bouncing around on these roads will shake some common sense into you. " Aug 1, 11 4:42 PM

LIPA Scrambles To Repair Massive Power Outages

Like Lemmings, most of the posters here missed the side of the barn by a long mile in regard to LIPA and National Grid. Although LIPA is an authority, LIPA is NOT accountable to anyone, not even the PSC. Even after the LILCO / LIPA take over, (Bear Sterns sold the bonds and made billions on this deal) Mr. Richard Kissel, along with then Governor Coumo and State Senator Ken lavale and other elected officials, Mr. Kissel the one time consumer advocate sold out the rate payers to allow this new authority, to not have to answer to the PSC. And yet now this career politico, Sen Lavale has a bill before the State Senate mandating what was ALWAYS in the charter that created LIPA , "THAT THE P.S.C. monitor LIPA". People, LIPA is NOT suppose to make a profit, LIPA spends all of its excess money on advertising BS, management bonuses, etc... NOT ONE PENNY ON INFRASTRUCTURE improvements.
During the hurricane I tried to find out / get info on / updates on, when and what LIPA was doing about the power outages I live in Bridgehampton, LIPA has a large facility in B.H., on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011 a beautiful sunny day, I stopped by the LIPA facility only to find it "Temporarily Closed" you could not call LIPA on the phone, my calls to all my local, state and federal officials I was told " we can't do anything" "LIPA won't talk to us" you know I can go on for hours about this problem.... Bottom line, "we should all call Gov. Coumo and have him finish what his father could not". But I am probably dreaming.

Southampton Village Passes Law To Keep Hedges Well Groomed

You are almost hitting the nail on the head... I am sick of small minded thinkers telling me how or what to do on my property. The vast majority of the people who post here oppose this law. The vast majority of the people who PAY TAXES to this incompetent local government can't vote in the this town. MAYBE its time to allow the DISENFRANCHISED to VOTE in the TOWN of SOUTHAMPTON. On a liter note; how about a law to put noise supression on all motorized landscape equipment?" Sep 24, 11 9:47 AM

Bulova Construction Impacts Bother Business Owners

Well it looks like and sounds like another boondoggle, fairy tale, to me. "65 luxury condos and town houses", even the lay person can see, hear and feel the trouble coming with this half ass project. Not enough parking, contaminated building site, on and on .... and away we go...... oh yea.... "the Mayor said..." I say stop this project now and hire an independent company to do a major league impact study. " Dec 14, 11 1:33 PM
