Turmoil continues in Tuckahoe; commissioner will decide fate of school board

agreed. one cannot separate the message from the messenger" Feb 16, 10 1:00 PM

Interesting, isn't it, that the Gimaldi's are still so heavily involved. Makes you wonder why . . ." Feb 16, 10 4:28 PM

So you saved a copy of the original date on the website. Who cares? Did anyone ever expect this board to cooperate with the voters of this district? No. By the way, teachourkids, the part of Grindle's agenda that includes you . . . forget it. " Feb 17, 10 9:11 AM

It is always the parents of the students who did poorly who blame teachers and administration and take no blame themselves. Move on. This is not about Linda Rozzi. You want to help the school? Spend more time paying attention to your children and less time making baseless accusations. All of the adults behaving like children at the last meeting were sitting on the board. " Feb 18, 10 9:45 AM

Move on. We are concerned with the FUTURE, not the past and increased representation on the board does not hurt anyone. It is very clear to so many of us that this board and its supporters have acted in their own best interests, prejudiced by their kids' personal experiences. It is inappropriate. You accuse the petitioners of being "chronic complainers"? Hah! MOVE ON! This is about the future. Get on with your life, please and stop trying to control things from behind the scenes. Most were glad to see you go." Feb 18, 10 11:41 AM

They say that you are a former trustee. If this is true, it is clear that you still hold some grudge that you will never let go. As I said, so many were so happy to see you go. You were a mean-spirited, vindictive board member who, if I recall, said that most Tuckahoe teachers "weren't worth their salt" and that "no one is irreplaceable", not to mention all of those racist emails you sent around and then there is the recent disgusting tirade by your husband on this board and at the board meeting. Please leave us alone to worry about our school's future. You children are gone, mine still has six years. Who are you to tell us what we should be doing? This is about the future of OUR kids who are still enrolled at Tuckahoe." Feb 20, 10 12:39 PM

Tuckahoe overhaul petition effort revived by former board member

Thank you, Harald, for standing up against this craziness. Riccardi and Grindle would like to make this about Linda Rozzi, but what it is about is their utter failure as board members at every level! " Mar 18, 10 9:27 AM

Bishop will vote yes on health care reform bill

As a progressive I believe that this bill does not go nearly far enough. I hope we will one day have single payer in this country. In the meantime, I am thoroughly enjoying watching all the right wing heads exploding!! " Mar 22, 10 12:02 PM

POP! There goes another one! Love it!! " Mar 22, 10 12:20 PM

"I can offer solutions but that's not my job" You really ARE a republican. POP! Another neocon head explodes! It's like the fourth of July!" Mar 22, 10 12:26 PM

POP! POP! Triple head explosion! You're not a conservative?! HAH! Pop!" Mar 22, 10 1:14 PM

Ah, the king of the neocons weighs in. That is a big POP! Another rightie head explodes! I can wait to see what cap and trade does to you guys! " Mar 22, 10 2:29 PM

Now, now, no reason to bring others into this - I can handle your nonsense all by myself! POP! Keep up the lies and fear mongering and we'll chat again over cap and trade. BOOM!!!" Mar 22, 10 4:02 PM

You hate your health care and you pay too much for it but you oppose a bill that would actually help you? Hmmmm . . . " Mar 22, 10 4:04 PM

Ad grimrag to your list of crazy talkers. " Mar 23, 10 11:31 AM

"Bishop has betrayed us" Wrong, he voted the way those of us who voted for him wanted him to vote. "He betrayed his religion" Where do you get off making such a statement? Who gave you the power to determine how this man should think about religion? You far right-wing zealots want the government out of your life. You don't want people telling you what to do, but you are more than happy to tell others how to think or feel about personal issues like religion.

You are worried about socialism? I am worried about the type of right wing fascism I see displayed in your comments and others. " Mar 23, 10 11:35 AM

Please explain exactly how "They circumvented the process and destroyed the constitution" and provide direct evidence to back your assertions.

Also, per your definition of socialism, since health care will remain in the ownership of the private sector, please further explain why the health care bill is socialism. You guys like to spew a lot of tea party talking points, but, in the end, you really have absolutely no idea what you're saying. The heads just keep on exploding!" Mar 23, 10 12:00 PM

Our level of healthcare is superior IF YOU HAVE ACCESS which millions do not. Do people from other countries come here for preventative care? No. Do they come her for mamograms or colonoscopies or diabetes testing? No. But millions of people living right here in our neighborhoods, good, hard-working, taxpaying citizens, have no access to basic care and, because of that, we rank below so many

If you read the post you're commenting on you will see that a source was cited The World Health Organization. " Mar 23, 10 12:30 PM

Absolutely the did NOT use "deem and pass" - absolutely false. The bill passed the house in a straight up and down vote and now must be passed by the senate. There is NO public option in the bill, although I hope they will add one, and this bill does not even come close to single payer as insurance remains in the hands of private companies who will receive 30 million NEW CUSTOMERS.

You are so incredibly wrong it is almost unbelievable. You really need to go out and educate yourself immediately. Seriously, you are embarrassing even those who are inclined to feel the same as you. " Mar 23, 10 2:20 PM

If only the bill could reduce ignorance! Well, kpjc, you've lost. As of today health care legislation is the law of the land. Next stop, single payer! Enjoy the view from the sidelines. " Mar 23, 10 2:22 PM

Your confusing ignorance and fear with freedom. Not quite the same. Sorry. How about addressing the lies that kpjc posted?" Mar 23, 10 3:40 PM

I own my own business and pay for my own insurance for me and my family OUT OF POCKET and my rates have gone up every single year for the last 8 years nearly doubling and I now pay OUT OF POCKET nearly $15,000.00/year PLUS copay. Thank god that as of today, I will be eligible for tax breaks and might even be able to hire on more employees AND insure them as well.

Typical of you right-wing fascists to jump to ludicrous conclusions about folks you don't even know, but no real surprise. A better screen name for you might be "bigfreshteabagger". " Mar 23, 10 3:48 PM

Math program at heart of turmoil in Tuckahoe

Wow, once again Ms. Grindle proves why she is not fit to represent this district. As a parent who did not sign the petition for a union free school, let me say that I cannot wait to see this woman and her cohort removed from the board! She is a vindictive whiner whose personal agenda clouds every decision she makes. Oh yeah, and if you read the article in the press about Grindle's response to the petition you will see she actually quotes Mr. Grimaldi's mad ravings as proof of her assertions! When will this madness end?" Mar 31, 10 5:07 PM

The board has time and time again overstepped the bounds of what it is they were elected to do. Grindle and Grimaldi have personal vendettas. Grimaldi was a terrible board member who sent out a number of despicably racist emails to PARENTS who were appalled at such bias. Grindle supported her and Grimaldi still works from behind the scenes to prop up Grindle who, in turn, dictates to her puppet Riccardi. Anyone who says there is not personal bias on behalf of Grindle is lying or not paying attention. Besides, if management were the responsibility of the Superintendent then why did the board attempt to dictate. Why did Grindle personally confront the math teacher? These board members are disgusting. No other way to put it. We will soon be rid of one and we must ensure that we never again allow our school to be mismanaged, financially and otherwise. Tuckahoe School Board adopts budget

Regardless of what this board might say, there was an extra $150,000.00 spent to make up for the superintendent they forced out and they gave an undeserved 40% raise to Mr. Joseph's. Not to mention the purchase of two properties which are now worth nothing because there is no money to develop them and the property values have plummeted.

The board will say the money to buy out the old super and pay $750/day for the new came from the reserve, but this is misleading AND the reserve must be paid back. So they "abolish" 13 assistant teacher positions. The appx. $200k spent on Mr. Joseph and the new super could have saved 10 teacher's assistant jobs. Personal vendettas and egregious mismanagement. Tuckahoe School Board adopts budget

I am not bashing the district, but the mismanagement by the school board. Regardless of anyone's feelings for Mr. McCarthy, his hiring cost he school and additional $150,000.00 Period. You have not addressed that and the article is about budget. The properties may have been approved by the district but the idea was pushed by the board and it was an ill-conceived notion. Teaching assistants are NOT a luxury, but have made a real difference at our school. Also, you can't have it both ways. You say are classrooms are small enough not to need additional help yet you believe that the district is so big that we need to spend even more money by splitting the superintendent position in two? And why don't you address Mr. Joseph's unwarranted 40% raise in "tough times". You have not addressed anything I've said but instead, as always, attempted to change the subject.

If you want to help Tuckahoe perhaps you should stop bashing fellow residents and think outside of your blind allegiance to one of the worst boards the district as ever seen. It is because of my concern for this district that I address these issues. You are only concerned with defending a failed administration and moving one. By the way, in case you weren't listening, Mr. McCarthy is a TEMPORARY hire. " Apr 28, 10 8:03 AM

You are the one whining here, flyonthewall AND you are completely misrepresenting the relationship between teachers contracts and what happened to the teaching assistants - why? Because that is what this board would like everyone to believe and it is just too typical of your repeated attempts to reassign blame to the innocent. You should be ashamed.

Those I know who support teachers are more than happy to pay a tax increase because it benefits our kids. By the way, taxes ARE going up and we are still getting rid of these wonderful teachers assistants who must now face unemployment in a terrible job market, but you have no concern for them. You don't mention that you are sorry they are losing their jobs. You give them no deference as fellow human beings who have decided to devote their lives to teaching our kids. You don't care about them because they don't suit your argument.

Who cares about the past guy in a Corvette? And how surprising that you would try to push of the entire issue of the worthless land purchase on our former superintendent.

Post after post you make it clear that, just like your allies on the board you are motivated by personal vendettas and irrational hatred and lies. Why is the UFSD decision in the hands of the state? Because Riccardi and Grindle refused to even allow discussion. If the new board agrees to a referendum, there will be a referendum. And please stop making such ludicrous and childish assertions about "a coup". These board members are not heads of state, they are people who chose to run and that means that they must listen to ALL voices.

You seem to have access to inside information, but that is not surprising, as we all know your true identity. The reign of ignorance, vengeance and disrespect has come to an end. You and your regime must simply face the facts that never again will we allow such people to control our district. Our future is not in the hands of the state, it is in the hands of the voters of this district.

Tuckahoe narrows down list of superintendent candidates

What happened to forming a committee of parents, teachers and residents to help make this decision? Correction: TWO board members voted to split the position. They feel the school is small enough to abolish all assistant teachers positions but too big for just one superintendent/principal.

I do not think that this board should be allowed to make any hiring decisions when we are so close to the end of the school year and the seating of a new board member. The outgoing board member should not have a say in such an important decision." May 7, 10 1:01 PM

Tuckahoe School District seeks stability in extending superintendent's contract

Ms. Grindle single-handedly (with the aid of Riccardi) destroyed the very stability she seeks to restore. i am ready to move on from this issue, as are so many others, as soon as Grindle is gone. Nothing would do more to restore "stability" than her resignation." Jun 24, 10 11:49 AM

Another thing, the petition for a UFSD was a RESULT of the tumult caused by Grindle and Riccardi, and not the other way around. Funny how even on her way out Riccardi cannot be counted on to make an intelligent, reasoned comment on something that is the direct result of her own actions. Mr. Seaman, you talk of the "abrupt replacement" of the superintendent - don't you mean the abrupt forced resignation? I thought you were meant to represent the school, not Ms. Grindle" Jun 24, 10 11:59 AM

So, Observant, everyone who posts here has too much time on their hands excluding you, of course. Stop bellyaching about other people's bellyaching and you'll be a much less miserable soul. By the way, "shameful"? Please." Jun 26, 10 9:24 AM

Tuckahoe superintendent to leave; School Board interviews finalists for position

Further complications and fall out from the boards personal vendetta against Linda Rozzi. " Jul 1, 10 2:35 PM

You may personally believe that the students are better off today than at any time in recent memory, but I do not. In fact, I strongly disagree with your assumption, including the one about Latino families, many of whom I know personally and who were quite simply destroyed by Ms. Rozzi's forced departure and still feel lost without her.

With Trustee Ricarrdi gone and Trustee Crough coming in, the future does indeed look brighter, but kids need consistency and this board has taken that from them. By the way, do you not know that we will no longer have assistant teachers? How has the loss of these teachers' assistants and two superintendents in six months made are school better off today than any time in recent memory?

" Jul 1, 10 11:16 PM

Are you kidding me, observant? Just stop with your nonsense and look at the school report card for 2008/2009 and pay close attention to the district summary. Our kids did GREAT! And all this crap about 8th grade math! 88% scored at or above level three! For the past 9 years Tuckahoe has seen it scores steadily rise over all. You do not have a right to your own set of facts. Your irrational hate of our former superintendent and you and the boards insistence upon blaming her for everything will never end. You and your allies on the board set out to destroy our school for your own personal hatreds and you caused a huge mess! " Jul 2, 10 8:33 AM

It is because I care about my kid that I do not allow these baseless lies to go unchallenged and precisely why I will not forget what this board has done to Tuckahoe. As I said, my kid is doing great and, if she weren't, I would not place blame on teachers. How do you know how all kids feel about losing Ms. Rozzi or Mr. McCarthy? Do you think these kids don't establish bonds with superintendents and staff? Mine did. Speaking of misdirected anger, I suggest you focus yours elsewhere and worry about your problems, not mine. By the way, there is a consensus among sane, rational, adults in this community that the school board in power for the last three years has been the worst ever." Jul 2, 10 12:00 PM

How disgustingly inappropriate to speak of other children by name. Not at all surprising, but wholly in keeping with your twisted sense of right and wrong." Jul 3, 10 4:05 PM
