What about politicians that have no party affiliation? They have no convictions and also float on whatever they believe to be the prevailing winds." Mar 23, 10 5:57 PM

Speak for yourself old man, Social Security was signed in 1935. Most of us were not even born.
Also both parties were in favor of SS, it was not just one sided. " Mar 23, 10 6:10 PM

The insurance companies have to charge more and more because of all the free health care these freeloaders are getting.
How about you peoplefirst do you even have a job or any health care." Mar 23, 10 6:19 PM

Send some of these freeloaders back to where they came from so that we (the working people) wouldn't have to keep paying for them." Mar 23, 10 6:21 PM

Lets also remember the democrates held the majority during the years of this mishandling of the Town finances. So if you want to cast blame, look to your democrat buddies . In 2004 we had Suskind and Kenny where were they?
Just to be clear Mr. Nuzzi was not part of the town board during that time. " Mar 29, 10 8:17 PM

Bridget Fleming sworn in, helps push through gridlocked resolutions

If this is a provisional position why is the town looking into civil service creating a test for this position? This position can be kept provisional and when the money from the grant runs out that person is let go. If they have civil service protection they get stay on as permanent employee using tax payer money.

SHNative if you really think that Heaney and Suskind were best buddies you know nothing about how much they could not stand each other. Suskind may have been a reg. Rep at one time but he is entrenched in the democrat committee. O yes he is developer and made plenty of money from his development projects (past and present) with the help of his democrat friends on the TB and other boards.

Turkey, everytime someone points out the FACT that the dem's held the majority on the TB during the years of this gross mismanagement you mention its the supervisor who is the chief financial officer. That may be true but the other town board members (that were mostly democrats) should have been watching what was going and during the job they were elected to do. They have equal voting power as you know darn well. So cut your BS.

SH Native keep dreaming. No postion will ever save the town any money. Our taxes keep going up and they will continue to do so. Take your head out to the sand." Mar 30, 10 8:56 PM

It was you who brought up this lame accusation again (3/29 @12:17 p.m.)because you just can't stop campaigning for your friends on the left even though the election is over on the town level. It is the job of all elected official to know what is going on in town government and if anyone is sounding lame and desperate it is you turkey. " Mar 31, 10 12:07 AM

Know one knows for sure if this position will be funded down the road with grant money. That being said, why is the town looking into civil service creating a test for this position? This position can be kept provisional and when the money from the grant runs out that person is let go. If they have civil service protection they get to stay on as a permanent employee using tax payer money for salary + benefits.
I don't believe for one minute that this will reduce operating costs to the town or to us as tax payers.
I can't ever remember our taxes ever going down either under a democrat or republican admin.
I don't believe for one minute what ATH has to say, she is a phony, minipulating and unprofessional." Mar 31, 10 6:08 PM

Turkey
Block appointments that people wanted? What people? Supporters of ATH just like you? Tamara Wright was appointed to the Comptroller position, so this is a mute point. Personally I would not appoint anyone who was a friend and who donated over $1,000 to my campaign. It’s just bad for business, period.
Has ATH ever voted no on any personnel resolutions? Was she trying to sabotage the past supervisor on all the issues they disagreed on?

Railroad an appointment that people don’t want? What people, the one’s that spoke at the TB meeting? Oh please that was a set up by ATH, inviting some of her supporters (dems) to speak in opposition of appointing Berkoski. We have over approx 35,000 registered voters in SH, a handful of speakers are hardly an indication of what the general voters want. Trying to imply that the Planning Board is corrupt is a total lie and you know it.

As far as denying funds for highway repairs, I believe Gregor was told to spend what he had first, before asking for additional money. He was not told out and out NO.

As far as the Health Care program the majority of the population does not want this program. I understand you are in favor, I also see that you blog all hours of day, what no job? Don’t tell me, your not one of those with your hand out, on the dole?

This health care program will cost billions, if not trillions. Our president has a socialist agenda, government run health care, car companies etc. Hugo Chavez and Casto both praised the president on this health care reform, does that tell you anything?

The points you make are ridicules and a poor attempt to spin the truth.

Keep watching Turkey especially when Bishop loses this November.

Financial investigation unearths $3 million deficit in Southampton Town beach fund

Is the comptroller sure? She can't seem take care of her own money problems.
How does someone end up owing the IRS $650,000. If she gets canned she could apply for a job with the Obama admin. she would fit in perfectly.
Also, ATH should know better than to discuss money issues in an Executive Session. I do not believe for one minute that Ms. Wright did not tell her in advance about the deficit.
Again, where were the democrats during the years this deficit happened? " Apr 14, 10 7:27 PM

IRS says Southampton Town comptroller owes $650,000 in back taxes

You better believe that the IRS notified her months ago and most likely sent many, many letters certified.
Why didn't the SH Town Ethics Board look into the fact that Ms. Wright's financial disclosure was not filed on time? This is a requirement by town law. This financial disclosure was purposely not dated or signed and for Ms. Wright to put blame on one of her assistants is a disgrace. She needs to take responsibility for her screw up.
Was Ms. Wright tipped off by the SH Town Clerks office that the press filed a foil request? Did all the town board members know about this (alledged) amount of money that was owed to the IRS? Is this why Nuzzi and Malone tried to hold off appointing her?
This whole thing stinks, (big cover up) this friend of ATH should resign. " Apr 14, 10 7:59 PM

O Turkey
The same old, same old from you is boring and so are your talking points.
It is so transparent how you cover for all your democrat friends by blaming everything on everyone else. I guess its ok not to pay taxes as long as you’re a democrat.
BTW your democrat buddy ATH is not worth defending, she's a phony and a user.
Anyone who gets romantically involved with a fellow board member is very unprofessional in my book." Apr 14, 10 11:47 PM

I don't think the Ethics Board could care less about a SH Town employees disclosure form. It part of the ethics law that employees file a disclosure form. Period." Apr 14, 10 11:59 PM

Both democrats and republicans were in elected office at the time this deficit happened.

Turkey regarding your comment to me above, you just can't pass up an opportunity to reply to my blogs. This is ok with me I'm here to accommodate you & having fun with it.
The comment you made that someone's personal life is not relevant is way off base. As you know elected officials personal life and how they conduct themselves in and out of the office is an open book for anyone to criticize. Having a romantic relationship (a fact throughout town hall) using someone to support your point of view in votes that took place is a trashy thing to do.
This behavior needs to be looked at by the SH Town Ethics Board. Was this relationship going on when ATH voted yes to appoint this person to the board?
Elected officials were elected to serve the people not for self serving purposes.
