Sportsmen Seek Voice Of Their Own

What kind of a person stages a 3 day hunger strike over deer? Only out here do you get this kind on nonsense. Are there no REAL problems? Deer, as sweet and pretty as they are, can be hunted for food. It is no different than catching a fish from the sea. Hunting should be allowed to continue." Jan 11, 11 7:09 PM

hahaha too funny cant wait to hear from the Amagainstit snobs on this one, theyll be forgetting about that concert and beach driving in no time " Feb 4, 11 1:28 PM

maybe 7/11 can give out free BIG GULPs at the concert" Feb 4, 11 1:30 PM

just having some fun razza dont really care for 7/11 that much either, but do find the anti concert crowd to be a bit over the top at board meetings the town has some REAL issues" Feb 4, 11 6:21 PM

you mean the end that was established to grant citizenship to emancipated slaves and their children? oh yea the part that the illegals are taking full advantage of----- kind of a slap in the face to the african americans who had finally been freed from bondage-- havent seen any day workers at the MTK 7/11 yet maybe its too far east? " Feb 5, 11 8:22 AM

just an fyi Razza and dont want to turn this into an immigration debate, but illegal aliens are NOT immigrants, they are illegal aliens" Feb 5, 11 8:25 AM

always thought that would be a gold mine location for a 7/11 place is going to make a fortune that overpriced IGA next door will lose some business sag harbor has a 7/11 and it hasnt had any negative affect there, still a very charming village if it becomes a say worker hang out, then Ive got issues, but probably wont, dont see them a the MTK sevies" Feb 7, 11 10:59 PM

razza perhaps you should join some pro illegal alien organization you take things very seriously ultra sensitive like most liberals by the way why would I talk to day workers? if you honestly think this country doesnt have a problem regarding illegals, then you are lost " Feb 9, 11 7:15 PM

Twenty-Eight Positions Could Be Cut At Eastport South Manor School District

Certainly understand the economic conditions of the day, but teachers should not bemade scapegoats for everything. In order to teach in NY state, a person must get a 4 year college degree and then a masters, plus take numerous certification exams. You cant expect a person to invest over 150,000 dollars in both college and post graduate education, and then take a job that doesnt pay a respectable salary and include professional white collar benefits. Who do you want to teach? " Feb 20, 11 7:23 PM

Town Will Investigate Charges Of Code Violations At Springs Home

This is a start. We will see if this is political fluff or the beginning of a real town-wide crack down on this. There are many more obvious ilegal residencies. " Feb 23, 11 9:17 PM

OK how do you propose this gets fixed? I dont get where you are getting this violence idea. That is not the intention at all, at least not mine." Feb 23, 11 9:36 PM

We have to give the new code enforcement people a chance, but they will be on a short leash. This better get fixed or there will certainly be political ramifications. It is comical how all we are asking for, is the law to be upheld, and somehow that is percieved as a lot to ask? The town is littered with cops, hiding in any nook and cranny they can find in order to give someone a ticket for going 45 in a 30 on an empty road in February, so the town can apply the same level of legal fortitude to housing." Feb 24, 11 10:44 AM

Hispanic Families Speak On Multifamily Housing

You gotta be kidding with using religion to defend illegal behavior. They have a system of laws in their home,"the Ten Commandments", so why cant these people also follow the laws of the land. The Leon's are simply making excuses. The illegal housing problem is ruining Springs and it has had a hugely negative impact on the Springs School. If people ca'nt afford to live in this town legally, then they can work here and commute in. Many Americans do this. It's why people work in Manhattan and live in Queens. Oh, and you knew the race card would come out. What a joke. What a sense of entitlement. Totally nauseating." Mar 9, 11 6:08 PM

Residents File Lawsuit Arguing Amagansett Festival Is Not Allowed

Much of it, at least in this case appears to be do to snobbery by old folks. This concert irks these people, because it may contain something called fun, which is apparently something that many residents here have a problem with." Mar 30, 11 7:39 PM

Census Shows Soaring Increase in Latino Population On East End

and you know the census misses many of them, as a large faction are undocumented. it is borderline comical at this point" Mar 31, 11 7:08 PM

yes, I fail to understand how being anti-illegals is racist. You can't win an argument when you are on the WRONG side of the law, a law that by the way does NOT descriminate. People are supposed to immigrate here legally. Once again I MUST state that illegal aliens are NOT immigrants. They are ILLEGALS, and I am totally sick of our government allowing them to continue to flood in everyday. They are a HUGE burden on our hospitals, schools, and other tax based resources." Apr 3, 11 7:37 PM

Atomic, you live in Springs, and you don't think illegals are a major problem?
Springs? Are you serious? Springs has been devasted by illegals. Look at the housing issues, and the school population boom. Do you read the papers? You honestly think this has nothing to due with illegal immigration. Hope you enjoy your school being broke, and your house will soon be worth crap too. But hey, illegals are great..." Beachgoers Rail Against Napeague Lawsuit

Is there actually anything that that Amagansett residents don't moan about. if it's not the concert, its a rumored 7/11. If it's not the 7/11, then it's beach driving. if it's not beach driving it's the square. if it's not the square then its something else. Seems like they need some REAL problems to whine about. (Hands down the snobbiest hamlet on the East End), and that's a tough title to hold in this neck of the woods.Lets juts call a spade a spade here and admit that many Amagansett residents don't appear to like the idea of regular people having a good time. " Apr 5, 11 5:24 PM

do not live there" Apr 5, 11 9:02 PM

What causes more harm to the environment? (a 3000-5000 square foot house in the "FRAGILE" dunes, or tire tracks in the sand? " Apr 8, 11 6:52 PM

Its not all seasonal people, we also have many local snoobs who oppose 4x4 beach access as well. " Apr 8, 11 9:42 PM

There is no way to access that beach without a truck. There is NOTHING wrong with driving a truck on the beach. This is done across all across America. Some beaches are designated for 4x4 access and some for foot traffic only. Most people who use that beach abide by the laws, and keep things clean. That beach, by the way, is virtually void of vehicles all week. The only day that the property owners really are complaining about is Sunday. So in other words, they are talking about something in the range of 8-12 days a year. The beach is virtually empty for the other 350 or so days." Apr 9, 11 7:40 AM

RON PAUL!!! Its time for someone completely different. Someone who walks the walk, and who's record backs up what he says. On the local front, I can't believe the voters in Eh are actually going to give the gov. back to the dems after they bankrupted one of the wealthiest towns in America." Nov 21, 11 5:56 PM

Springs Resident Calls For East Hampton Councilwoman Theresa Quigley To Resign In Wake Of "Nazis" Comment

Lets not play party vs party. the reality is that illegal housing is a big problem in Springs. yes some people have gone about addressing it in an undesirable way, but if the town had just done its job in the first place, none of this would be going on. people should live where they can afford to live legally. if they can't afford to live in an area, they can work there and commute in." Mar 19, 12 8:22 PM

are you suggesting that people don't commute to work in more affluent areas? It's done across the country. It's why people live in Queens and work in Manhattan. No one is telling middle class people to move away. the truth is if you want to live here year round, there aren't many good paying jobs. If you want one of the good jobs, you can start your own business, and maybe make it. You can be a realtor, a cop, a lawyer, teacher? There are ways to make money here, so lets not make it like you can't earn a decent living in this area. You can, if you manage to do what you have to do to get a good paying career. If you don't work hard or don't your school work, don't blame others who made good choices. I happen to know many locals, yes locals who are financially successful here, not city people. " Mar 22, 12 7:19 PM

I will agree with you board watcher that some of the springs folks are a bit over the top in regards to the housing issue. they really need to realize that the town is not willing to go to the extent that they wish in regards to housing. " Mar 22, 12 7:24 PM

that's what the landscape is right now, and probably for the future, so if people want to live here, and own a home, they will have to find a way to make decent money. It is what it is. Do I think it's a good thing that you need a six figure salary to live here and be "middle class", no." Mar 25, 12 9:19 AM
