Census Shows Soaring Increase in Latino Population On East End

and you know the census misses many of them, as a large faction are undocumented. it is borderline comical at this point" Mar 31, 11 7:08 PM

yes, I fail to understand how being anti-illegals is racist. You can't win an argument when you are on the WRONG side of the law, a law that by the way does NOT descriminate. People are supposed to immigrate here legally. Once again I MUST state that illegal aliens are NOT immigrants. They are ILLEGALS, and I am totally sick of our government allowing them to continue to flood in everyday. They are a HUGE burden on our hospitals, schools, and other tax based resources." Apr 3, 11 7:37 PM

Atomic, you live in Springs, and you don't think illegals are a major problem?
Springs? Are you serious? Springs has been devasted by illegals. Look at the housing issues, and the school population boom. Do you read the papers? You honestly think this has nothing to due with illegal immigration. Hope you enjoy your school being broke, and your house will soon be worth crap too. But hey, illegals are great..." Beachgoers Rail Against Napeague Lawsuit

Is there actually anything that that Amagansett residents don't moan about. if it's not the concert, its a rumored 7/11. If it's not the 7/11, then it's beach driving. if it's not beach driving it's the square. if it's not the square then its something else. Seems like they need some REAL problems to whine about. (Hands down the snobbiest hamlet on the East End), and that's a tough title to hold in this neck of the woods.Lets juts call a spade a spade here and admit that many Amagansett residents don't appear to like the idea of regular people having a good time. " Apr 5, 11 5:24 PM

What causes more harm to the environment? (a 3000-5000 square foot house in the "FRAGILE" dunes, or tire tracks in the sand? " Apr 8, 11 6:52 PM

Its not all seasonal people, we also have many local snoobs who oppose 4x4 beach access as well. " Apr 8, 11 9:42 PM

There is no way to access that beach without a truck. There is NOTHING wrong with driving a truck on the beach. This is done across all across America. Some beaches are designated for 4x4 access and some for foot traffic only. Most people who use that beach abide by the laws, and keep things clean. That beach, by the way, is virtually void of vehicles all week. The only day that the property owners really are complaining about is Sunday. So in other words, they are talking about something in the range of 8-12 days a year. The beach is virtually empty for the other 350 or so days." Apr 9, 11 7:40 AM

UPDATE: Absentee Ballot Count Continues In East Hampton

RON PAUL!!! Its time for someone completely different. Someone who walks the walk, and who's record backs up what he says. On the local front, I can't believe the voters in Eh are actually going to give the gov. back to the dems after they bankrupted one of the wealthiest towns in America." Nov 21, 11 5:56 PM

Springs Resident Calls For East Hampton Councilwoman Theresa Quigley To Resign In Wake Of "Nazis" Comment

Lets not play party vs party. the reality is that illegal housing is a big problem in Springs. yes some people have gone about addressing it in an undesirable way, but if the town had just done its job in the first place, none of this would be going on. people should live where they can afford to live legally. if they can't afford to live in an area, they can work there and commute in." Mar 19, 12 8:22 PM

are you suggesting that people don't commute to work in more affluent areas? It's done across the country. It's why people live in Queens and work in Manhattan. No one is telling middle class people to move away. the truth is if you want to live here year round, there aren't many good paying jobs. If you want one of the good jobs, you can start your own business, and maybe make it. You can be a realtor, a cop, a lawyer, teacher? There are ways to make money here, so lets not make it like you can't earn a decent living in this area. You can, if you manage to do what you have to do to get a good paying career. If you don't work hard or don't your school work, don't blame others who made good choices. I happen to know many locals, yes locals who are financially successful here, not city people. " Mar 22, 12 7:19 PM

I will agree with you board watcher that some of the springs folks are a bit over the top in regards to the housing issue. they really need to realize that the town is not willing to go to the extent that they wish in regards to housing. " Mar 22, 12 7:24 PM

that's what the landscape is right now, and probably for the future, so if people want to live here, and own a home, they will have to find a way to make decent money. It is what it is. Do I think it's a good thing that you need a six figure salary to live here and be "middle class", no." Mar 25, 12 9:19 AM
