Prosecutors charge Guldi with insurance fraud

Yes, Sicilian. Good luck with your hopes of Guldi's innocence. He should have thought of his kids before he allegedly committed these crimes. My prediction is this guy is going down. Way down. Too bad for his kids. You can't pick your parents. " Sep 20, 09 7:57 PM

Trustees reject mayor's attempt to add seven resolutions after walk-out in Westhampton Beach

Yes, serious crime in the village? How about the armed robbery at the "Post Stop Cafe"? How is that investigation going fellas?
So, the WHBPD has two dispatchers and two "rubber gun" officers. (thanks Beach Blogger for that one). Did anyone ever count the number of stationary vehicles parked in the WHBPD lot? Do you think we have some fraud, waste, and abuse going on here?

Helicopter foe girds for battle

The credibility of those posting complaints about the noise from the airport is highly suspect, in my opinion. Sagharbor bob says" he can't use his lovely yard 24/7". Really Bob? Love Sag says that "jets, airplanes and helicopters constantly fly over my house" Really? Constantly? Obviously neither of these two responders been anywhere near East Hampton airport the months of September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May. As most know, there is virtually nothing going on at East Hampton airport those months. Weekends, yes, however the bleating, whining, complaining about unending noise when it is apparent to any rational observer that it is sporadic at best and very brief in duration. I submit that the noise of the numerous and prolific landscapers and their equipment pose a much greater threat to the neighborhood environment than do the users of the airport. Certainly, the noise foot print is of much longer duration than the overhead passing of a landing or departing aircraft. Just a quick viewing of Mr. Dalene's site shows 15-20 second noise patterns. Certainly not the 20-35 minute wine of the average leaf blower.
Airports, it must be remembered, are very limited by geography in where they are situated. The residential growth patterns of recent years have pushed housing up to the boundaries of the airport, and that is why, for example, recent housing projects bordering the Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach, list on the deeds that the property is in effect subject to adverse noise.
The assertion by Mr. Dalene that the airport be limited to only private operations is absurd. Access to a public facility such as an airport should be absolute and unrestricted. The best comparison I can think of to an airport that people take for granted without exception is a bridge. Certainly those living near or under a bridge are subject to noise, pollution, falling objects, etc. Yet, I have yet to read a complaint from someone living under the Shinnecock bridge that it and the railroad bridge be closed to commercial traffic because of the noise and danger.
And yet Mr. Dalene, who for years, has made a comfortable living from those who both traverse the bridge and who arrive by the very airplanes and helicopters he now wishes to be banned from East Hampton airport. Sounds like hypocrisy to me. " Aug 12, 10 1:43 PM

Actually, I have lived for the last 29 years 1.6 miles from the approach end of runway 6/24 of Gabreski airport. Like Mr. Dalene, I can read the tail numnbers as the airplanes pass over my house. " Aug 13, 10 10:35 AM

Guldi Found Guilty Of Two Felony Charges

The jury has to be commended for their decision. The remarks of the ADA were right on the money. What can you say about a guy who has not filed a tax return since 2004? He said it was because people owed him money. He has been indicted for non filing also in addition to his 82 million dollar mortgage scam. This has got nothng to do with politics. This is just plain old crime. Maybe he can be Bernie Madoff's cell mate. " Feb 16, 11 7:57 PM

Residents Irate Over Proposed Hangars In Westhampton

From my understanding of the project, the prospective tenants are those whose airplanes already use the airport and that are based elsewhere. They fly in, drop off their owners and fly out again. It seems to me, to eliminate those unnecessary flights just to fly back to their bases, would cut down on the number of flights in total to the airport. The airport is tremendously underutilized as it bascially supports the Air Guard and the owners of homes out here. The access the airport has provided to high net worth individuals is directly responsible for the growth of the real estate industry and the supporting businesses, plumbers, electricians. The jobs this project would bring and the associated people needed to support it would be a terrific benefit to this area. Has anyone noticed all the empty store fronts and building for rent out here. We need every job we can get. I hope it happens." Nov 10, 11 12:31 PM
