Tuckahoe superintendent resigns amid furor

to unnamed tuckahoe parent. you should be ashamed of yourself and of your ilk. to state that tuckahoe school sucks and is a mediocre joke does more to expose you and the disdain you hold for our school. i suspect that if your child had achieved, you would be singing a different tune. when a parent is willing to state that the school sucks, you can bet your child saw and understood this. your revolting message speaks volumes and will only strengthen the resolve and conviction of the parents. please do come to the next meeting and don't be cowards. we would love to debate you in the open." Jul 28, 09 3:19 PM

and one more thing, thank you. thank you for posting your destructive, inane, accusatory thoughts. you have done us a favor. you are exactly the type of person that needs to be exposed and minimized. " Jul 28, 09 3:36 PM

i'm calling b.s. on you teachourkids. if there is a problem with our children being prepared for math when they leave school...don't be afraid to bring that up...it isn't against the law. if you have a problem about discipline, after school programs, latinos, homework load...bring it up...these are things that you CAN discuss. but never you mind. it's easier to fire the super in the dead of july instead of actually dealling with the issues. your years of the pto and your little group running the school is officially declared over. time to roll up the sleeves, clean house and get that school operating like a well run machine. by capable, mature, intelligent adults. don't let the door hit you and your clique's arses as you exit the warroom." Jul 31, 09 7:19 AM

teachourkids, when you run around town expressing the same exact thoughts and then posting them online...well, it makes it silly to use a nickname....and it isn't even really that earthshattering of a concept." Aug 1, 09 6:13 AM

Congressman defends calls for health care reform

for those that think the plan is so great, i would like to know how many of you have read it. if you think things are bad now....this won't save a dime AND you will have sold the rights to your body, your access to healthcare and the responsibility of your care to the US government. reform isn't overhaul. resposible reform yes, obamacare NO!" Hospitals and insurer fail to reach agreement; Empire not accepted at East End hospitals

go to any city, town or village in america. the people that depend on the governement for everything, including healthcare are less healthy and worse off than the folks that take care of themselves. so if a little healthy negotiation throws you off to the point where you want to sign off your and your family's personal freedoms to the THE MAN, go ahead, but leave me out of it." Howard Dean comes to East Hampton to discuss health care

how can Dean possibly be an expert on this subject. he's never been around greed in his life...neither his father the wealthy maidstone stock broker, nor the doctors, nor ANY of the politicians and certainly no East Hampton summer residents are guilty of greed." Aug 5, 09 8:50 AM

Schneiderman takes temporary pay cut

folks, read the article..its 10% over 10 pay periods..equal to a 2 week pay cut...which is NOT 10%. and, if you look hard enough, you will find that the $$ came through the back door somewhere, because NOBODY volunteers for a pay-cut. and leave it to a politician to press release it and then use a phrase like ''lagging'' the paychecks over 10 bi-weekly pay periods.....hahahaha politicians....." Howard Dean stumps for national health care in East Hampton

Here are the take away points of the article: Dean does not have support of President, he things protesteres are hot air, and he thinks the democrates should and will use reconciliation tactic to jam plan down the throat of citizens who are clearly against it. He is aggressive, angry and downright incorrect. Reconciliation is reserved for budgetary votes to save gov't from ''shutting down'' and will not be used here...it would be a sure-fire way to tear this country to pieces. And just like Dean's, Harry Reid's days in office are numbered. " Aug 12, 09 7:02 AM

A tragic and shocking end to an immigrant family's American dream

''he always like to chat and make jokes"? eating donuts? why the attempt at humanizing a murderous, illegal, abusive animal? this guy was scum of the earth and his brother is surprised? glad to know that this guy loved to dance to the folkloric bands in the tuxpan plaza...but how 'bout we highlight someone from long island, that has never been arrested for murder because he didn't plunge a dagger through the chest of an innocent victium, that never beat his wife, that never illegally crossed the boarder, that never needed an order of protection... wow." Empire, hospitals still at impasse, but issue affecting seniors has been resolved

Bishop engages outspoken opponents of healthcare reform

to number19, your premise is all washed up. the people that are against this so called healthcare reform understand very clearly what is in the legislation. that is why they are fuming. the kaiser comparison does nothing more than confirm that this is not about preserving the quality of healthcare, lowering the cost of healthcare or getting everyone covered. it's about giving the government overreaching powers into your fiscal life, your personal health decisions, your choices of how to care for your loved ones and your own personal every day existence. East Hampton residents to gather for public option health care vigil tonight

now THIS is astro-turfing at its best. the townhalls are filled with decent, authentic, passionate people. the marxists on the left must pay folks, put ads on craigslist, and spend big money to drag teddy's memory through the muck. make sure you take the wide angle shot so we can see how many folks soros was able to pay to attend." East Hampton residents rally for health care reform

those old ladies are unamaerican, nazis, standing in the way of democracy, astro-turf, evil mongers, trying to squash honest debate....mmmm....am I missing anything? " Sep 6, 09 7:00 AM

No new progress in Empire, Alliance talks

dagdavid, how much of your income have you spent on paying for other folks' healthcare...out of the goodness of your hear. exactly. $0.00. Why try to create a system where the gov't takes our loot in the form of taxes and then re-distributes it. there seem like enough folks are for ahem,''healthcare reform''...why don't you all put your money where your mouth is and start coughing up money and paying for these folks you care so much about. perhaps we would like a choice about how to spend our tax dollars....if you think gov't does it best fine...but no time like the present to start sending your money to washingtom...they can hand it out NOW. get off 27east, go to your bank, clean it out and stand out in front of southampton hospital and simply volunteer to pay for people that walk in the door.....that is, if you really care. President addresses nation and Congress as health care debate continues on East End

A new Investor’s Business Daily poll of more than 1,300 physicians finds that nearly two-thirds (65%) don’t back ObamaCare, more than 70% say the government cannot provide insurance coverage for 47 million additional people and save money without harming quality, and 45% of doctors say they “would consider leaving their practice or taking an early retirement” if the liberal health care plan passes.

Earlier this week, as the front-page story in today’s Investor’s Business Daily noted, the Los Angeles Times ran a front-page story touting the American Medical Association (AMA)’s backing of President Obama’s health care plans, while a National Public Radio publicized a poll funded by a pro-ObamaCare group to claim that “nearly three-quarters of doctors said they favor a public option.”

The IBD/TIPP poll of 1,376 physicians suggests that the AMA does not represent most doctors as it advertises and lobbies on behalf of the administration’s plan, and offers a second opinion to the poll (of 991 physicians) originally published in the New England Journal of Medicine suggesting strong support for a bigger government role." Health care reform march held in Sag Harbor

Wow,I have read all of these healthcare posts and its really ashame to see how harsh those folks are that are supposedly ''for'' healthcare reform, even though everyone does seem to see the need to reform the system. The approach is different - but it I doubt the thoughtful people that post here are ignorant, racist and you can't be scared or fearful if you want to take care of yourself rather than rely on a federal subsidy. Can't we all just get along? As soon as there is a new healthcare related post on the site, mostly the same people start going at it. There is common ground, we all live around here probably and we all care about many of the same things. Nobody wants anyone to be hurt or broke or out in the cold or harmed in any way...not even the ''evil right wingers''. Civility has to start somewhere, perhaps it can start with us here. Oddone trial to start next Thursday

Editor, if Imay restate comment: "in my opinion, this less (potentially) less than upstanding citizen..while not proven yet in a court of law..stands a chance at receiving a verdict of guilty". All charges are solely alleged until proven to the standards required for the particular charges. and, should the death penalty be available, it would be acceptable to me personally that it be applied in this case. I trust this sounds better than my deleted comment of ''guilty''. thank you." Sep 26, 09 7:38 AM
