Local Tea Party movement holds two rallies on Tax Day

80-90% of what? Voted down party lines? Voted for/against Bush or Obama? What is that a percentage of? I should have known you're not equipped for a battle of wits when you said McCain was in Congress." Apr 27, 10 12:55 AM

Southampton School Board approves $57.3 million budget

I'm all about fiscal responsibility, but doesn't that seem a bit drastic, BM? No increase in the budget, I'm right there with you, but shouldn't the rest be decided by the board and the union compromising? As long as the budget is set, why does it matter to you where the money is spent, let them decide (as long as they stay on budget)" Apr 27, 10 2:04 AM

Hampton Bays school budget includes 18.5 percent tax hike

Wakemanfoster, very quick to use the racism card. I didn't see kelly charge ANY ethnicity with adding to this problem, she simply refferred to those of us not paying taxes. Which ethnic group are YOU refferring to by assuming this is a racial claim? I beleive that YOU, sir, used racist thinking to come to your conclusion. Get over your divisive attitude and think in terms of everyone being equal, it's alot more peaceful." Apr 27, 10 2:27 AM

Silly pup, i like that. But McCain is rated lower than or equal to over 110 republicans in office, according to the ACU in terms of being conservative. There are only 218 republicans in office, which means he's not even in the top half. So by you saying he is "one of the most conservative republicans in congress" you are lying. But I do like the name Silly pup, i think i'll change my screen name, thanks." Apr 28, 10 3:24 AM

Levy says he will veto sex offender legislation

I agree, our politicians are now REWARDING these scumbags with more money annually than a blue collar worker makes (after taxes) I am left feeling as though this government is actively spitting on those of us who try our best to do the right thing, and those who committ horrible crimes, such as sex offenders, are given a free ride. This is simply disgusting. My apartment costs less than half of the equivalent of $90 a day, and I have to work for it, but I guess that I'm just a sucker." May 21, 10 2:07 AM

Mattituck woman will receive six months for DWI fatality involving Hampton Bays teen

6 Months? That is a travesty. I wonder what the Marino's have to say about this. I know guys who've done more than six months for a DWI without killing an innocent child, or causing an accident, or while endangering the welfare of a child, or while having an open container in the vehicle. That plea is absolutely disgraceful." May 28, 10 2:34 AM

Westhampton Beach man receives GOP nod for assembly; Thiele gets Democratic endorsement

lablover, razza poses a great question-- have you ever voted for a republican? It seems that you are merely trying to goat Mr Blumenthal into an arguement in an attempt to trip him up (not because the answers will change your opinion of him, or your vote) By the way, if someone has a "disability" I believe that they are considered to be "disabled," thus the similarity in those two words." Mattituck woman will receive six months for DWI fatality involving Hampton Bays teen

To what circumstances are you referring Mr Z? I know alot more about this case than this article contains, and NOTHING I have heard favors Mrs Goss. Do you know something that I don't? Or are you just trying to get people to believe that she was less at fault than this articlle leads on?" May 28, 10 8:20 AM

Mattituck woman will receive six months for DWI fatality involving Hampton Bays teen

So many things don't add up in this deal. She had a previous arrest for DWI, she was talking on the phone, also BAC of .13 is one drink away from a felony DWI of .15 (so it's not like she had one or two drinks) This is insanity. Even if Mr. Marino did swerve into the road, THAT IS WHY YOU DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE-- IT AFFECTS YOUR REFLEXES!! " Jun 5, 10 1:35 AM

Such a shame, I hope she loses everything in civil action-- not that it would even come close to what the Marino's have lost. The judicial system has completely failed our community in this situation. The DA and judge should both be run out of town." Jun 5, 10 1:38 AM

Mr Z, please check out this site,
She has a history of six speeding violations, passing in a no passing zone, and a FELONY POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE charge (not to mention her prior DWI arrest in 2003) Do you still tend to think that this "bit of mercy" is a "rather advanced trait in a society," or a mistake?" Police cite 21 on drug charges at Neptune Beach Club over holiday weekend

Town to reconsider leaf pick-up

There is a large amount of money from our taxes allocated to the leaf-pickup program. Does anybody here actually think that if they cancel this program we'll get to stop paying into that fund, thus reducing our taxes. NO! They will just keep taxing us for it, and move it to other programs that are not in need of more funds. They will NEVER give us this money back, so saving taxpayers money should not even be brought up in this discussion." Jun 5, 10 5:00 AM

Bagging the leaves, however, would be a back-door method to raise the taxpayers burden by charging an ungodly fee for these bags. I know the article refers to the bags as being "supplied by the town," but the green bags that the town "supplies us with" for garbage aren't cheap by anybody's standards, just another source of revenue for the town." Southampton Town code enforcement slaps landlord with 50 violations at six houses

Here's a link to a site that tracks opinions of County Judges. I urge everybody to weigh in on this matter. Judge Gary Weber should answer for this injustice.

Not so, Razza. She has plead GUILTY to vehicular manslaughter, meaning that she is to be punished for "killing a little boy," not the other less serious offenses. The fact that she has acknowledged that it was her actions that caused Mr. Marino's death takes out of the arguement whether or not she is responsible. The sticking point is the light sentnce. 6 months is far less than what one might get on that charge alone. Taking the other charges, and criminal history into account there is no way this sentence should be so light." Jun 14, 10 12:59 AM

"Her major crimes which she must answer to is her repeated offense of drunk driving and the fact she had a minor in the front seat with her "

Her major crime was Vehicular manslaughter, the other charges (which she plead guilty to as well) are just reasons for a harsher penalty." Jun 14, 10 1:02 AM

Mother of drunk driving victim protests sentence

Driving while intoxicated with a minor passenger aged 15 or under is a felony punishable by up to four years in prison Too bad this law wasn't in affect until a few weeks after this tragedy. Although she should be facing up to 15 years for the charge of vehicular manslaughter THAT SHE HAS PLEAD GUILTY TO! What a disgusting display of corrupt judges/attorney's." Jun 14, 10 1:18 AM

Southampton Town officials revisit idea of charging clubs for additional police presence

I can easily understand both sides of this arguement. It is understandable to be upset that the town is making it more difficult for these businessess to flourish. But, it is also reasonable to think that 20 something arrests a weekend at the same establishment is detrimental to the communnity. If the police surveyed a deli or a barbershop for a weekend and walked away with 20-plus seperate arrests, the business would be ran out of town by all of us. This is the point in time where we, as a communnity, need to draw a line as to what is more important to us, public safety and less drunken idiots, or the money that they do, in fact, inject into our local economy." Jun 14, 10 6:22 AM

"these offenders were doing these illicit activities by themselves outside of the range of the Club’s Personnel and Security."
Yes Damon, but these people would not have been in that parking lot (or in this town, for that matter) had the club not been there, drawing them from up island. That is exactly the point." Jun 14, 10 6:28 AM
