Trespassing charges dropped against East Quogue woman arrested near ANG base; wrongful arrest lawsuits filed

As long as your not armed to the teeth with weapons designed to kill people." Nov 19, 09 3:30 PM

You just hate the cops no matter what they do. No where in your nonsensical rant do you mention the weapons and ammunition. Would you prefer the police just ignore the next person with a trunk full assault rifles and ammo? I applaud the police for a considered and appropriate reaction. If this woman wants to play GI Jane, then we have right to make sure she is not some loose cannon murderer. " Nov 19, 09 3:32 PM

To all of you gun-toting, constitution thumpers, spare me your self-righteous hypocrisy. Someone speaking out against weapons made to kill other humans scares you but a car load of assault rifles and 500 rounds of ammunition is harmless.

If I complain about the NRA and guns I am "infringing upon your first and second amendment rights" but when you attack my opinions you are being what - patriotic? I am sick and tired of turning on the news and hearing that someone walked into a store or a school or an army base and randomly killed innocent people with their "licensed and legal" guns.

You can go on and on about constitutional rights written when it took ten minutes just to load a gun, but tell that to the families of those who have lost a child to gun violence. " Nov 19, 09 10:13 PM

Snap out of it, Susie D. " Nov 19, 09 10:14 PM

You thump the constitution to protect your own ideals and then use it as a weapon to attack others. If there were an award for bleating knee-jerk drivel you'd win the gold.
" Nov 20, 09 8:55 AM

I agree. She did nothing wrong and should not have been held. What I am saying is I congratulate the police on taking action when they first found her. And I'll say it again, if you replaced this story with a muslim or an African American, all of these blubbering, neocons would have been screaming to throw him in jail." Nov 20, 09 8:57 AM

"or every story about gun violence against innocents, there are twenty of guns protecting their rights." You say something in defense of civilian gun owners and then tell a story about "a female officer".

Give me a real world example of how there are twenty gun owners protecting my rights.

I could care less if someone owns a hunting rifle, but an assault weapon designed to kill people and 500 rounds of ammunition? Really." Nov 20, 09 9:01 AM

Guess you'd better take your foot out of YOUR mouth. HAH! Love it!" Nov 20, 09 1:35 PM

Try walking into a shopping mall and killing 30 people with your bare hands or even a knife. Ridiculous. " Nov 20, 09 1:36 PM

I believe that every person in this country has the right to protest guns and not to be shot." Nov 20, 09 1:39 PM

You have pictures of the Pope and bishops - so what? What does that have to do with it? Do you know that the Pope and catholic bishops abhor guns? Do you realize that the teachings of Christ are in direct conflict with your desire to own weapons?

I agree you are innocent. You did nothing wrong and were let go. However, we are only hearing your side of the story and, from what I hear you saying, I think the police did exactly the right thing. I am sorry, Ms. Genovese, but you sound a bit extreme in your ideology and perhaps that came across to the authorities. Combine that ideology with semi automatic weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition and all of the violence and hatred being espoused by the far right, along with the fact that you were taking photos where you should not have been doing so, and the police have a pretty strong case for holding you until they were certain you did not represent a threat to anyone.

I would agree that they probably held you for too long, but if you want to have the right to carry around weaponry of this type in your car, then you had best accept that there may be consequences. " Nov 21, 09 3:54 PM

Very well said, beersmom. Many here want their rights protected, but are not willing to accept the responsibility that comes with those rights. Could not agree more." Nov 22, 09 10:32 AM

Trespassing charges dropped against East Quogue woman arrested near ANG base; wrongful arrest lawsuits filed

Your continuous expressions of hatred towards the police department give you no credibility on this issue. If you want to stop and take photos at a military base first go home and empty your car of semi-automatic assault rifles and 500 rounds of ammunition. Amazing how you refuse to admit that this woman bears some responsibility for her actions. Even I admitted that the length of incarceration was extreme, but to totally absolve her of all culpability? " Nov 23, 09 9:23 AM

Do you not see that your very words are reminiscent of a type of militant extremism that is very dangerous in this day and age. I am fairly certain that you most likely started talking like this to the police which, in turn, gave them fair cause for concern. You were found innocent but now you are digging a hole for yourself." Nov 23, 09 9:25 AM

Frank, You're hilarious, dude, really. I love it when you respond to my postings because you always prove my point when it comes to infantile right-wingers. And listen, "pants-wetter"? Surely you can come up with something a little less third grade than that. At any rate, I appreciate your continued interest in my point-of-view.

" Nov 23, 09 12:45 PM

Oh, I see, so if you quote someone else calling someone a pants-wetter and say it applies to me, you are not really saying it yourself, but rather referring to someone else's comments therefore you did not actually say it . . . I think I am beginning to understand your inanely twisted logic, Frank . . . Let me give it a try. The other day I heard someone refer to right-wing zealots as mindless ditto heads and I think it is clear they were referring to you. How'd I do?

To all of those who Frank refers to as my claque, thank god there are some solid liberal thinkers out there to combat these "ditto heads" (Not my word, someone else said it) Wow, this is fun!" Nov 23, 09 4:35 PM

If you cannot see or admit that sitting there and taking photos with those guns, loaded or unloaded, is indicative of poor judgment in a post 9/11 world, then you got what you deserved. " Nov 24, 09 9:57 AM

Supreme Court lifts injunction on use of Aldrich Park

The inappropriateness of comments by INS and Faceless and others of their ilk is beyond rational belief. These boards have become a haven for posters like this to spew hate and incite violence which is, I am sure, not the intent of the Paper.

Mr. Shaw, please consider making people provide real names, just as they must when writing an editorial, and I am sure you will see a much more civilized, productive debate as many would not dare put a face to such vile comments. I will happily post under my real name when the policy applies to all." Nov 28, 09 10:33 AM

Your and faceless are speaking about these workers in vile, racist terms. You take isolated incidents and then use those incidents to indict an entire group of people which only encourages those like yourself who are already inclined to hate. That is an incitement to violence. To actually have the gall to defend someone's use of Stalin and then express your desire to use it yourself - that says enough about who you are.

I do not expect someone so blinded by hate, fear, and bigotry to capable of understanding the consequence of their words, but I do hope the editor is able to see how dangerous your bias truly is.

By the way, the first amendment protects you against persecution from the government and has nothing to do with the ignorant expressions of disdain you post on a newspaper forum. Would you be willing to use your real name and stand behind your baseless accusations? To put a real name and face to your hatred? I doubt it. " Nov 28, 09 10:45 PM

Do not confuse patriotism with neocon ideology.
" Nov 30, 09 12:48 PM

Just read her archived myspace postings which can be easily googled. She fits the profile of a right-wing zealot that I am darn glad the police had the foresight to arrest. If Bill Ayers had said some of the things that Ms. Genovese has you'd all be calling for his head. " Nov 30, 09 1:08 PM

No, you broke no laws, but your words (specifically some of the extreme anti-government points of view you've expressed on myspace) made you suspect. You can't espouse extreme anti-government sentiments and then go take photos of a military base with a truck full of ammo and weapons. You DO bear some of the responsibility for your arrest REGARDLESS of whether or not you broke any laws. Are you not someone who called for a boycott of all media outlets EXCEPT Fox, because FOX is the only unbiased news source? Did you not go on a paranoid rant about FEMA? You are not giving an accurate accounting of what really happened, but there are plenty of sources on the internet that have. " Nov 30, 09 1:16 PM

The constitution and the police also protect those of us who feel that people like Ms. Genovese may pose a threat. As has been said - had she been a muslim citizen who had made the same kind of paranoid accusations about the government as she has, many of the same people defending her would have been calling for punishment." Nov 30, 09 4:22 PM

Exactly." Nov 30, 09 7:36 PM

Race? Where in my post do I mention race? I said "Muslim", which is a religion, not a race. Nevertheless, I stand by my assertion that had it been a Muslim (white, black or yellow) you and your neocon cohorts would be calling for that persons head and you would not be talking about their constitutional rights. " Nov 30, 09 7:39 PM

Yes, she does have a right to judge you. You have posted on these boards and, just as you respond to and judge others, they have every right to do the same." Nov 30, 09 7:42 PM

Ms. Genovese, you do not understand the first amendment. Your right to free speech protects you from prosecution from the government, not me or anyone else. I have read your posts here and on your facebook page and my opinion is that you have an irrational fear of government which, combined with what appears to be an irrational love of guns, makes you suspect. For me, this is not about your RIGHT to own guns, but whether or not you are someone who can be trusted not to do something stupid with those guns. " Dec 1, 09 12:30 PM

Then stop freaking posting, Highhatsize." Dec 1, 09 12:31 PM

By the way, from my point of view it is you and "Nancy" who are the ignorant ideologues. Your irrational fear of government and police combined with your slavish devotion to the the second amendment and your complete denial of any personal responsibility associated with those rights puts you on the extreme, right-wing fringe of the type of dangerous political ideology associated with tea-baggers, birthers, Timothy McVeigh, and Glenn Beck." Frank you love to accuse others of lying while spewing your own twisted brand of "truth" in defense of your one true love, Ms. Kabot. Your "stalker" and publius are not the only ones who think you disagree for the sake of disagreeing.

You and that hatsize dude are so anti-police that one must wonder what hidden secrets motivate your irrational disdain. " Dec 4, 09 10:34 AM

Mr. Wheeler, You defend the birthers right to post by asserting that another poster's comment is the equivalent of "squealing like a stuck pig"? Did you not try to silence a comment from mcmann by asserting that responding to your post would make him/her a hypocrite?

Mr. Wheeler, I frequent these boards and I have ready many of your comments and been astounded by the irrelevancy of your attacks on any number of posters whom you consider somehow less worthy than you. You attack people's intelligence, their politics, and their motivation over and over.

There is no such thing as a nonpartisan agenda. The two parties have vastly different platforms and agendas. If I vote for a democrat, I expect that that candidate will be true to the ideals of the party. This does not mean that bipartisanship is not possible, but a candidate is elected, more often than not, because of party affiliation. That is why we have distinct parties with distinct agendas. Trickle down works? That is why the gap between rich and poor is the largest since the great depression? How do you explain bankers and wall street making millions while nationwide unemployment is at 10% - is that because trickle down works? Has trickle down saved millions of families from foreclosure?
