County selects developer for industrial park

It seems that we-print is suffering from sour grapes. Rechler is a class act capable of building a quality product that will be a huge boost to our year round economy. Was we-print or we-prints friends capable of developing 485,000 sf and bringing that many jobs to the area? Did they have the financial where-with-all? Did they compete in the RFP process, and submit a completed proposal?

North of the Highway's point about contributions fails to point out that all the big boys/girls and some of the smaller ones contribute to all the parties - and Rechler's contribution wasn't that significant over the years. Nor does north of the highway point out that this is a development by Scott Rechler who is feuding with other Rechler's as detailed in other LI newspapers.

The new "industrial park" will bring a new cleaner look to the rundown section of Gabreski, new jobs, and greater revenue.

Let's be watchful of the types of businesses that are going to be tenants, and be assertive when it comes to the Town's planning board's review of the applicants.

Mr. Bill....

The County ceded its right as lead agency to the Town. That was part of the deal that was brokered to get this going.

I agree with North of Highway - lets hope that this gold mine is a benefit to the local community and the greater area - and the developer (and future tenants)helps the community keep air traffic down.

County considers roundabout for Flanders intersection

I seem to remember this issue coming up during the hearings for the Hamptons Industrial and Technical Park. Money should have been appropriated in the budget in anticipation that any large development at Gabreski will impact CR104/CR 31and other intersections." Oct 21, 08 9:36 PM

Quogue officials say gas station deal might be off table

What harm is there in allowing the station to stay open 24 hours? It seems Hess has been reasonable in scaling back the size/scope of the project - what are the Village's objections?" Oct 21, 08 9:39 PM

Hampton Synagogue files legal brief on proposed religious boundary

Deputy County Executive Jim Morgo resigns

Jim Morgo is a great guy - bright, honorable, decent, true and respected. His departure will create a huge void in Hauppauge and will be felt by all of Suffolk County.

Jim was a legislature way back and has served in many roles since.

Best of Luck to Jim - I'm sure his brilliance will turn up for other great things in the future!" Feb 17, 09 10:06 PM

Some opposition to proposed farmers market in Southampton

Hey can't Southampton and other South Fork farmers go to other farmers markets up Island and on the North Fork?

Competition is good for the consumer. Bring on another farmers market!

Westhampton Beach directs attorney to rework village music permits

Regardless of the Chief's salary and how many officers there are for the size of the Village - how is the major crime rate since Mr. Dean is the Chief? Seems to me there haven't been too many issues - well worth whatever the Village taxpayer's are paying - and the police tax rate is not unduly excessive.

All seemed to be quiet in the department until the Village Board appointed a liason to interfere.

Was the Magic's burglary a burglary? Based on his legal troubles I would have to think about the Magic's situation. And Post Stop was it an inside job based on a tipoff of the situation? Still much better policing then most areas. It seems that Mayor Teller was re-elected - so if he cost the Village money they voters have forgiven him. Stop dragging the Village down and start working for a solution. " May 1, 09 11:01 AM

Hey Hey Johnny --

When is the poker class given at the library? I get distracted when people post son-in-law of the former mayor and so on - too many hits to the head I guess.

Pretty soon they will have to see what percentage of their taxes go to the Library as well -- massive project and I can bet there will be massive overruns with those that are in charge.

We look forward to you raising your children in WHB (so you school taxes will actually be for something), your love for the area is undeniable. " May 2, 09 8:12 AM

Business Park lease signed

The key here was Jim Morgo - he became a trusted link to the community and delivered transparancy. It is rare to find a public servant of his caliber.

Four will vie for two seats on Westhampton Beach board

Hey Resident -

If Tom Spota wrote that letter in 2000 he was writing it as a lawyer in private practice.

Tom was elected until 2001 and took office in January of 2002. Get your facts straight before spewing venom.

Westhampton Beach Village Board votes behind closed doors

What is legal and right????? Come on - clearly as the village attorney has said they are "invalid and unenforceable". Levan and Tucker must go. They saddled us with a huge library debt for what?? And now they may cost the village legal fees for Chief Dean's attorney. Learn the open meeting laws before you try to do a weasel deal!" Jun 1, 09 7:10 PM

If you are going after the chiefs accumulated time, why isn't the board going after all of the others? Do they owe them something? Is it a quid pro quo?

Also how does resident know that the village attorney didn't tell the board members that they were incorrect in their actions?

Things need to change in the village. The incumbents saddled taxpayers with library debt and now will run up the legal tab for taxpayers.

" Jun 2, 09 11:27 AM

A village or town is not a special district and wouldn't be subject to that legislation.

And the Newsday story indicated that Chief Dean's salary is in line with other East End Chiefs.

What does it cost to live out here and support a family? What is a living wage in WHB? At what cost do we want our people to be able to live out here?
These are the questions to be asking.

Westhampton Beach Village Board votes behind closed doors

Why should Chief Dean have to earn the public trust again? He hasn't done anything to lose it....

He is hardworking and visible. Again what was Kametler salary the last year he was on the force? I've been told it was 110K. If detectives and sgts earn in excess of 130K how is Dean's salary out of line? As a comparison how much does the chief of the Quogue PD make? Southampton Village?

Political advertisement causes a stir in Westhampton Beach

C'mon Hank - telll the truth. The ad and endorsement was you and Joan blowing your own horns. Be a man, stop taking the health benefits and start making your own decisions. Stop the lies and deceit. Otherwise, you will fall to Elyse or Steve.

" Jun 9, 09 6:28 PM

BTW pretty funny what Angelo has to say about SHP reporter and editors. He should look in the mirror. SHP keep it real and honest!

" Jun 9, 09 6:30 PM

Hasn't the SHP received any awards??? My my..... just because the SHP reports the truth Resident gets angry.....

Maybe the DA should be looking in the election shananigans like non residents voting.... remember a certain chinese food magnate from years past....

Keep all eyes out on the non resident factor in this years race.

Good luck to Elyse and Steve. They will be throwing everything nasty your way in the next weeks.

SHP and Frank C - keep up the good work. You just need to find a way to clean up the comments!

Board rescinds motion but still targeting Westhampton Beach Village police chief

Answer to the cop owned bar busted by SCPD - is simple.....

the drug task force which has members from local forces and used to have a member from WHBPD (not sure if they still do) makes all large scale busts.

SJD its time you get your facts straight. If the chief is to make less money, you would have to scale back all officers, detectives etc pay. That would go for all departments because the pay is in range to WHBPD. Do you homework before lashing out." Jun 10, 09 6:45 PM

No debate again this year in Westhampton Beach

Why couldn't the league arrange for a forum with Elyse and Hank?

I think Dean Speir should offer to moderate a debate. He could use his sidearm to keep order. People would pay to go to it!" Jun 10, 09 7:05 PM

Board rescinds motion but still targeting Westhampton Beach Village police chief

The answer is stated clearly above - The Drug Task force made the arrest. Start reading and you'll see the answer.

Since when do police departments have anything to do with health issues? That would be the Health Dept.

Whether you like the chief's pay or not it is here to stay for any replacement. Civil service laws are pretty clear on the subject. Maybe its time to let the chief call the shots in the department and continue straightening out the place - leave it to the professionals not the board.
" Jun 10, 09 7:11 PM

Again..... no need to reply to chides. If you abolish the WHBPD you still would have coverage from SHPD at similar costs - no savings.

If you are asking why WHBPD is no longer on the task force ask Toni Jo.

And if pension reform is the issue, you should be talking to the powers in Albany not WHB.

And just because you repeat the same charges over and over do not make them fact. " Jun 10, 09 9:29 PM
