Southampton wrestling coach arrested on drug charges

This is a very sad situation, especially for kids who are now having to learn about a darker side of humanity. Everyone has weaknesses and people you trust can let you down and make bad choices themselves, fortunately they can also redeem themselves...I believe that Ryan will find the inner fortitude to do this in some way. I do think that everybody is entitled to express both their gut reactions and the opinions they've come to after longer consideration. However, I don't like how "littleplains" compares this to small town local politics. Seriously, what good is it to compare this to Anna Throne-Holst's dog and her choice to bring it to work at town hall? This is a bit different than Township budget issues." Mar 27, 09 9:02 PM

Mariners fall short of trip to state final four

Actually, The Mariners play this weekend up at the NYS championship; for track that is. Wish them luck, I know that they will come back proud. Just watch Owen Laub and Nick Collazos bring Mariner Pride home!

Here's my point, Mr. Big Fish: WHAT THESE BOYES DID COLLECTIVELY FOR SOUTHAMPTON HIGH SCHOOL AND, THE LARGER COMMUNITY, WILL LIVE ON and INSPIRE FOR DECADES!!!

These young men will remain on in our small town athletic system, even as they go onto the next phase of their life. BIG FISH or SMALL FISH, call them what you will, these guys worked hard and made history that counts! Or should I say “re-counts.” Since that’s what we’ll do this thanksgiving and, hopefully, again and again as each spring training begins.

To say “The coaches and players worked hard” is to plainly understate. And you shouldn’t knock it, even if you haven’t seen it or just can’t understand it.

Above it was said, that it took them 10 months. Well, Cheers to that!!! And let me tell you, their electrifying accomplishment is still palatable and fresh in our pond, big or small.

By the way, did you write today’s front page headline? I only ask because, it resembles your demeanor and I know for a fact that Cailin Riley only wrote the articles and Sports page headline.

Maybe, if we’re lucky Cailin might share more about the electricity she felt this season while covering this talented group of young men and their leaders. I’m not done hearing about this team, nor any other Southampton athletes inspired to believe and go for it!

University Council supports cuts made to Stony Brook Southampton

How about bringing back an 'All for the Sea" concert. There has to be someone out there that can bring in a catchy grassroots style big name band to help make a difference and put the school back on the map. " Oct 5, 10 8:42 PM

Southampton Town Makes Offer To Purchase The Hills Property In East Quogue

I like this. Truth is, development can't be undone. Just drive west to see our future if we aren't proactive with preservation. This is a very good idea and is what the fund is for; the good of our community present and future. If they are smart "the hills" should take the money and run. At least they will sleep well knowing that they didn't ruin a town's resources. As for the idea that the hills would help our school, I say just look at Tuckahoe. They know that golf courses don't help anything! " Jul 12, 16 10:21 PM
