Hey slamminsammy - the law is the law. Once a particular species is gone it is gone forever. living things are priceless. perhaps they should have shipped you off to Louisiana" Mar 27, 09 3:23 PM
I've read, with interest every one of your comments. Instead of wasting your energies on this back-and-forth bickering e-style, why not lobby your local state representatives. I am from SH originally, born and raised and have resided in FL for the last 25 years. FL stopped most of this easily. First, when anyone, and I mean anyone including myself applies for a drivers license you must show proof of citizenship. Birth certificate, passport, naturalization papers etc...Second, when most companies hire anyone, especially in the building industry, they must posses a FL drivers license. They try to show licenses from Texas, Colorado, the Carolinas and yes, NY. Apparently these are the states that a license is easier for them to obtain. But most companies will not hire unless they have a FL drivers license. Amazing how just this has cut down on the situation. It won't solve all the problems, but probably would put a dent into it. This will keep the men and women that are here legally legal and perhaps the illigal ones think twice, no proper ID no work. But that is for your govermnent to put into action. And I must comment that if it weren't for some of these guys that are here legally, we probably would not have recovered as quickly from the back to back hurricanes in 2004" May 5, 09 3:15 PM

In regards to your comments. Your friend from Guatemala is one of the few that apparently, came here legally and obtained citizenship legally.
As far as the farmers go, my parents were potato farmers in Watermill for many years and they survived. Yes, even then laborers were hard to come by at times, but as I've said before, they survived. Most of what is left of farming on the eastend are family run, passed down from generation to generation and apparently were able to employ laborers before the onslaught of illegal immigrants arrived in your area. I hope to see the day when AFFIRMATIVE ACTIION is removed and people are hired based on their ability to perform their given jobs...Perhaps the caucasion race should have a similar law on the books. Wouldn't that be an interesting turn of events...What would they do then....." Jul 3, 09 10:56 AM

I understand and there should be punishment for HATE crimes. I'm speaking of affirmative action and the way our population is exploding in a non-caucasion way, in another 20 years this law may be obsolete. I really should be abolished now"

I remember, over 50 years ago how this little building was used to store the ice boats for the winter season. I remember so well for this was on the edge of my family's potato farm. I came up briefly last year and rode by and was surprised to see this little building still standing, though overgrown. What a piece of the past, when life was gentle and moved at a slower pace....."
