Hampton Bays Civic Association Laments Pollution In Bays

spend 15 minutes with someone who understands what is destroying the most precious natural resource we have and you wouldn't be arguing about whether its septic or runoff is worse. Both are bad and these ecosystems are connected and related. kevin mcallister is exactly correct this should galvanize us to improve the systems in place to protect flora, fauna and the bays." Southampton Village Board Suspends Highway Employee

unfortunately, there should be nothing private about a civil servant's employment information. if she wanted to be private, there is something called the private sector where she can work, but since we are paying her salary, its all public. small price to pay for the benefits and other perks, not easy to get canned from a civil servants position so it must have been a long list." Southampton Town Councilman Chris Nuzzi Unveils Business Development Initiative

I am not sure I understand the reasoning behind creating a new so called ''council'' to make recommendations. Why doesn't the various boards and interested parties take it upon themselves to fix what they evidently think is broken? Is there too much risk in making recommendations to reduce red-tape?" not every single one, just the ones where the man is screwing with people. it happens sometimes, actually. In fact, go to any city and compare the areas where folks rely on the man and where they rely on themselves. get back to us about which part of town you prefer." Aug 23, 11 10:54 AM

mmmmm, no. I don't fight for anyone buy myself, but as I look around everything I own is from a corporation or made by someone that used material from a corporation. Except for some items picked up on travel, which again, made possible by corporations. The minute corporations don't provide anything I need, that corporation isn't important to me anymore. But rich people and corporations don't scare me as they do you. And I hold special disdain for extreme views from any side of the aisle, yours included. At best its naive' to think that only one party is propped up by agenda driven scoundrels with loot. Look at Bill Clinton, for example. But we digress." Aug 24, 11 5:17 PM

i think razza5351 is right on his too. Creating more red tape to clean up the red tape is only something a politician would think of. In the real world, when there is a problem with a product or service, it gets fixed or its axed. soon enough, there will be a super council to review the council who was assembled to review the process and now the process that was set up to review the process must be reviewed before the original process can be reviewed as was originally the goal. but hey, tax me more, whatareyagonnado." you see, that's the difference between you and I. I'm not going to be waiting for help from anyone, neither the man nor a corporation. i'm confident in my ability to fend for myself now and in the future. if we get hit badly, as you said, I will come to my own aid....the statement "I wonder who is going to come to our aid" is completely and utterly foreign to me. but i've paid my taxes, so the theoretically the lemonade stand raiding ''man'' has some of my loot so not only do I help myself, but I'm helping you too. You're welcome." Aug 26, 11 2:18 PM

UPDATE: Storm Lessens In Intensity; Should Make Landfall At 10 a.m.

what will happen if we have an actual hurricane? no power or water for months? years? our power went out with winds in the 4-8mph range. Why would the NHC and the Weather Channel report sustained winds of 75mph in Central Park when actual readings never exceeded 18mph? Something isn't making sense. Meanwhile, LIPA is ''tweeting'' the newsconference to folks that have neither internet or television..." Aug 29, 11 2:40 PM

Irene made landfall close to Moorehead NC at about 0430 on the 27th. The wind speed recorded by NOAA, and published on their Weather site, was NE at 52 mpg with gusts to 69 mph. The NOAA recorded wind speeds up the East Coast were in the 20 to 30 mph range with gusts in the
30 to 50 mph range. This was not a hurricane in NY. You can check this by going to NOAA weather and checking the 3 day hourly reports. And you if you have an insurance claim make sure your insurance company applies the wind deductible and not the hurricane deductible, which is significantly higher.

LIPA Scrambles To Repair Massive Power Outages

we are lucky and got everything back in order by tuesday morning. but there are no trucks from lipa anywhere out east. they are all from out of state. why pay some of the highest per kilowatt per hour rates in the country to a firm that contracts all of the work to someone else? if we are paying lipa shouldn't lipa be out here? glad this wasn't a hurricane, now lipa is estimating 90% completion by this Monday, 8 days after we had a windy day with almost no rain. time to bury the lines and learn how to plan a vegetable garden." LIPA Scrambles To Repair Massive Power Outages

are you sure about that? there is no way anyone is going to get a credit or not pay for the days that they had no power. the monthly taxes, fees and base charges will all remain. not only that, but with hawaii being the only state with more expensive power, you are very inaccurate to claim that we deserve less service because we have less people out here. Our price is exactly the same as nassau's and you have every right to demand the the level of service that the THE HIGHEST PRICE in the contiguous 48 states and the second highest price in the country should buy." LIPA: Fewer Than 200 Outages Left Islandwide From Irene

not only are these numbers fake, but there are some other numbers that I don't hear about. If Irene costs $1 Billion dollars, how much of that is covered by the citizens? Pretty much all of it! The numbers I don't hear are how much do New Yorkers pay monthly in electric bills $5 Billion? How about in insurance costs $20 Billion? The money is there, and its all supplied by the taxpayers who pay taxes, insurance premiums, the highest power rates in the contiguous US and top dollar for everything else.. so stop whining and get to work fixing this stuff....we pay dearly for all of it and we should see the results in something other than a fantastic sounding union vacation for top brass." Sep 2, 11 6:24 AM

you couldn't be serious. this is not difficult. who said lipa didn't want to get everyone back up and running. the problem is that they can't! and they can't because they didn't use the money wisely that we send them every month. if it doesn't frost you a little to see your money wasted then fine, but it is silly for you to take such an amateurish argument as they want to get it up and running so they can charge you more. its all about cutting corners with your funds at your expense. to each his own, but your angle is very odd. you should disclose if you work for lipa so it makes a little more sense.
