Gregor still intends to seek an additional $2 million in funding to repair Southampton Town's roads

how about we see how far mr gregor can stretch the 3.8 million already allocated to paving. all those projects listed above already have funding and would not be taken from the 3.8 million. lets see how fiscally responsible he is since he already blew through his snow plowing budget for the year on this years couple of storms. 3.8 million was budgeted because that is a professional estimate of paving 30 miles of roads.

stop blowing smoke and threatening to sue the town. get out there and run your department." Apr 15, 10 9:13 PM

Financial investigation unearths $3 million deficit in Southampton Town beach fund

Kabot spend money????? shes the only one who slashed the budget down from 82 million to 78!!!!

its ath who is spending and slowly rehiring all the bureacrats that were laid.

its the new highway superintendent who is blowing through his budget." Apr 17, 10 12:46 PM

you are he only one who continually brings up political parties. so when democrats are at the helm of comptrollers office. political parties suddenly dont' matter.

instead of being so blind to this party vs that party. how about you look at the big picture and see what both sides are doing.

how do you justify the millions being added to budget to date by the "blank" supervisor and "independent" highway superintendent?" Apr 17, 10 12:50 PM

we can agree that the buck stops with the supervisor. lets see what you have to say when we see the budget go up this year under ath. i dont see us going down from a 78 million budget, i see us going up.

you dont like kabot but she did make tough choices and cut the budget. that is the right thing to do. it was your fleming who pontificated how the budget doubled from 40 to 80 million in under ten years. im curious to see how she works to get the budget down this year.

if you actually read any of the results of the audits and even the comptrollers own words. they all say much worse could have happened if it was for the swift action of the supervisor. Moody's even directly stated that in their credit rating report!

blame the republicans all you want. when the mortgage tax money was rolling in hand over fist everyone was spending democrat and republican. that flow of revenue ended under kabot and luckily she had the fortitude to cut the budget." Apr 17, 10 1:01 PM

Gregor still intends to seek an additional $2 million in funding to repair Southampton Town's roads

THE WORST WINTER IN A COUPLE OF YEARS? WHAT PLANET ARE YOU ON?

just give the man money because he asks for it???? what kind of policy is that? thank god someone is asking questions like what are you going to do with it!?! yes they are asking for accuracy of the amount...hence why the board wants a list of roads he plans on paving, but has yet to produce it because he doesn't want to confuse taxpayers. i dont know what kind of logic that is.

the man should have a sound plan on how he is going to pave roads with 5.8 million dollars. and why he thinks he cant pave 30 miles of roads with 3.8 which is a professional estimate. it is and has been the town policy to pave 30 miles per year. i dont understand how all of a sudden it will take 5.8 to pave the same amount as last year at 3.8.

the man is not a civil engineer or even an engineer, nor is anyone around him. he has no experience other than digging well holes and the 10 minutes he was in the highway shop.

so it would be your policy to give the guy a blank check? and you talk about republicans!!!" Apr 17, 10 1:13 PM

Southampton Town PDD process upside down, critics say

bob and all his environmental friends forget that property owners have rights and by right as of now the property in question can be built on. the developer wants more than what is allowed hence the pdd application. the developer doesn't to do any study to see what kind of store is needed. he can propose anything and its up to the various boards to see how it fits in the community and those boards are supposed to listen to the community desires. property owners have rights to build and develop. we dont need more government telling people what to do." Jun 30, 10 9:41 PM

i guess the affordable rental units above the rite aide don't count? nor does the pdd contribution to the hampton bays park district or the option to buy the nutrition center when the Town deems it appropriate." Jul 5, 10 11:16 AM

fyi the rent to the community center averages 30k per month" Jul 5, 10 11:17 AM

MTA lawsuit spawns internal bickering, finger-pointing at Southampton Town Hall

as stated in the last paragraph by ATH "it was a waste of time to start with" why did she schedule an update in public forum and waste the boards time and the valuable attorney's time with this? Its the supervisor alone who schedules work sessions and the agenda.

I'd like to see the SH Press FOIL the bill from the attorney firm to see how much money was wasted on this stunt." Aug 5, 10 6:59 PM

I think the blame goes to the individual who scheduled it and later says it could have been covered by an email exchange. Great leadership!" Aug 6, 10 8:47 PM

Moody's upgrades Southampton Town bond rating

Just keep in mind the 2009 FInancials that are referenced here focus on the spending and cuts made by the Kabot Administration which had noting to do with ATH. Get your time frame right Turkey George!" Aug 25, 10 9:46 PM

no, not exactly. there is a rating issued almost every year. and usually will occur after the independent audit. the fact that the Town bonded just when the audit was issued and the credit rating was given was a coincidence.

After the national financial meltdown I don't think Moodys or S&P will be giving ratings lightly. Considering they have downgraded entire countries the fact that Southampton has the second highest rating speaks volumes and I don't even know if anyone has the highest rating." Aug 27, 10 11:16 AM

LIRR service suspended on the East End Friday

So basically the east end is losing out on the 1 to 2 trains it normally runs?" Sep 2, 10 6:50 PM

high water and down trees happen on all branches of the LIRR. when it rains bayside floods, area outside the penn tunnels floods. trees and branches come down all along the mainline.

the LIRR has a very poor track record in inclement weather. 9 times out of 10 my train is delayed or broken when it rains" Sep 3, 10 4:28 PM

ok os i was off by 7. my point being that it really doesnt matter because anyone who uses the LIRR past Speonk always has a plan b. the service is just as pathetic as their performance.

For something I CONTRIBUTE TO OUT OF MY PAYCHECK. I EXPECT IT TO RUN EVERY DAY. DO I GET A DAYS REFUND ON MY MONTHLY FOR SERVICE NOT PROVIDED? is the mta tax adjusted for me for all the late and cancelled trains?" Sep 3, 10 4:32 PM

Throne-Holst: No layoffs in 2011 tentative budget

Turkey as usual you are off the mark. it is up to the supervisor and the supervisor alone to make the tentative budget. once the board is given that budget then the amendments can be made. hence why there was a nice presentation on friday to the board by the supervisor. get the facts before you go off on your talking points. now is the time the board makes inputs via resolution. and yes some board members did participate in the process thus far. you'd be surprised to see who didnt!

you want to continue to spout off on the goings on around town hall how about you participate in town hall goings on" Oct 3, 10 10:48 PM

Rechlers pick up demolition permit applications for Canoe Place Inn

that club and restaurants have been there long before you and your house. you should have looked around your house when you purchased it" Oct 3, 10 10:52 PM

as part of the demolition permit process it has to be approved by the landmarks board since the structure is older than 75 years. so they can get all the permit forms they want. it will still be tied up in the bureaucracy.
this is just an empty gesture by the rechlers. " Oct 3, 10 10:54 PM

Hampton Bays Assessments Drop

strange how the Town advised all the school districts LAST Year of decreased assessments and still they increase the budget.

how about instead of depending on the PILOT payments to decrease the tax impact how about you actually reduce your budget Larry?

How many pay increases are in this budget?" Oct 14, 10 6:44 PM

well if they consolidated look at how many high paid administrators could possibly be out of work!

Perhaps with their stellar leadership skills, fiscal responsibility and ability to lead the east end school districts to such high test scores they surely could find employment elsewhere! " Oct 18, 10 6:53 PM

Riverside Man Dies Hours After Being Shot Outside Hampton Bays Nightclub

First a stabbing at the dinner and now a shooting at the canal road establishment. I think this place should be shut down. Is is a coincidence that both places are operated by the same guy? What kind of people is this owner bringing to our community? Shut this place down and the illegal night club behind the dinner! How much violence does it take?" Oct 30, 10 10:50 AM

no, the individual who owns the hampton bays dinner leases the night club on canal road, known as dream. Carl worked with the owner of the diner along with other club owners" Oct 31, 10 7:07 PM

Southampton Town Board Adopts Amended $79.9 Million 2011 Budget

For once turkey i partly agree with you. i'm particularly troubled with the move to appropriate fund balance that doesnt exist and the decision not to pay off debt.
Also, its a sad day when seniors have to plead for a bus driver and a cook all the while the majority board adds a 150k position to the budget.
Fiscal conservatives....cut the community programs and add management and more government and bureaucracy. Those are not the republican values I know..." Nov 20, 10 9:45 PM

she abstained because the republicans passed an amendment to spend fund balance that does not exist. it passed against the advice of the comptroller and town attorney. so being the chief fiscal officer she abstained. In essence the republicans made cuts and will fund the town with money that does not exist. sounds like trouble to me. be prepared to read more about "book keeping errors" in 2011!" Nov 21, 10 8:05 PM

She did she voted no on that resolution. But it still passed." Nov 22, 10 6:07 PM

way to go nuzzi! cut the senior center cook and a senior bus driver but give your aide an 8k raise AND and add a 150k management position! you could get 3 cooks and 3 bus drivers for that croonyism you sneaked into the budget!! you taking notes from Charlie Rangel?" Nov 22, 10 6:10 PM

if those positions are cut, then how are they filled? if a bus driver has retired this year as part of the retirement incentive, then how is the position replaced next year when it is cut nature?
i know there is a complex thought process here nature!" Nov 22, 10 9:08 PM

so you're saying the 150k replacement position is more important than replacing a cook and bus driver? or do rank and file have to be eliminated to show the mandated savings while management is replaced?
if they need money they can just appropriate more of that imaginary fund balance that doesn't exist!" Nov 23, 10 7:49 PM

Quogue Attorney Responds To Verizon, LIPA Over Religious Boundary

In reality with all the money being spent on this eruv controversy, to accommodate probably about a dozen orthodox jews, how about these orthodox jews who choose to obey this religious law just get a map and find out where the eruv boundaries would be from their house to the temple? or is that too ridiculous or require someone to be accountable for their own actions and doing to leg work to find out if they are in compliance with the eruv? a jew has to memorize parts of the torah for their bah mitzvah why not memorize a boundary rather than waste tax payer dollars?" Despite Objections, Southampton Town Board Appoints OTB Official To Top Management Post
