Lindsay Lohan's father in talks to open club in Westhampton Beach

Jun 9, 2010 1:43 PM

Michael Lohan, the father of actress Lindsay Lohan, might have a hand in opening up a new club at the Westhampton Beach restaurant Annona, but the deal is far from finalized, according to Richard Rubio, whose family owns the establishment.

“There’s nothing definite,” Mr. Rubio said Wednesday morning.

Annona, an Italian restaurant that opened in 2005, is located on the eastern side of Old Riverhead Road, above a vacant showroom that used to house a luxury car dealership owned by the Rubios.

If the Rubios strike a deal with Mr. Lohan, the club would open up after the restaurant finishes serving dinner in the evening, Mr. Rubio said. He hesitated to call it a “nightclub”; instead, he described it as “somewhere people could do a little dancing and just enjoy themselves.”

The club would not be operated as a separate business from Annona, Mr. Rubio said. He added that Mr. Lohan’s exact role in the proposed business venture has not been determined. “He’s a customer,” Mr. Rubio said. “He’s a customer coming in for quite a while.”

Mr. Lohan could not be reached for comment.

Mr. Rubio said he expects to know more about the deal within the next two weeks. He declined to comment further, citing the tentative nature of the deal.

Although media outlets have reported that the club will be called “Controversy,” Mr. Rubio said he has never heard that name before.

I thought that Westhampton Beach got rid of all its trash when it closed the Marakesh in the mid-1990s.

It will never last. Too seasonal out here WHB. Well if it's a sober club he could let Lindsay come out and party with her ankle bracelet on, but she would probably screw that up too by sneaking in booze and getting busted again and setting off her alarm...

Westhampton Beach Steakhouse turned into a nightclub (or should I call it "a place where people could just do a little dancing and enjoy themselves") after dinner service, didn't work out so well for them; two people got stabbed New Year's Eve and now they are out of business!!! Good luck with that.....

There aren't enough sophisticated, over the age of 30 professionals "summering" in Westhampton anymore; just boring families with kids. This will never last.

Lohan must have partners because with his criminal record he could never get a State Liquor license.

You can't make this stuff up!

After the WHB Village PD is disbanded, perhaps the former employees can find jobs at Club Lohan.

Wow, what a perfect way to capitalize on his daughter behavior. He should call it "SCRAM at Westhampton" and start a chain all over the world.. Have a hidden VIP room with a guy there that can remove/override/trick the device and give free admission to people wearing the device. Everyone will want one.

Wasn't he planning on opening a rehab out here in the Hampton's -just last year??? His daughter is wearing a ankle braclet and so he decides to open up and run a nightclub instead???? ( OK-so now we know where his priorities are.)

Hey you all, give Frank Wheeler a break. Sure, he comments on almost everything, and sure, I disagree with him almost all the time, but he puts up intelligent (if barbed) material, which is more than than many on this board can say. Retired or not, there are far less constructive things to do with your time than following community affairs and putting your thoughts into the mix.

(Mr. W., I hope you're not offended by my sticking up for you, given our history. If you are, too bad.)

[gulp!]

I think I must have fallen through the looking glass, TB.

No, not retired -- temporarily on post-op furlough and with one of those new-fangled wireless laptops, sitting - weather permitting -- in a hammock.

Nothing much happens over here since they dissolved Pine Valley back in the early 1990s, so the doings in 11978 and 11968 are most entertaining.
By Frank Wheeler (1826), Northampton on Jun 11, 10 1:56 PM
Hate to tell you Frank but, Pine Valley is still on the Map, Google's,anyway.
Be well.
By Johnny Nova (83), Northampton on Jun 13, 10 12:44 PM
Hate to tell you, J. Nova, but that's not the Pine Valley which encompassed parts of Northampton and Flanders and the lower Riverhead traffic circle.

The 14872 zip code should have been a clue.

That's Fresh!!! A USED Car salesman and a low life. I guess birds of a feather do stick together!!!! Hey here's a name for the New Club....LO-LIFE!
IF in fact they HAPPEN to pull it OFF....I'd start asking the real question, Who does Mr. Rubio have in his pockets???? HMMM. Amazing Bankruptcy, Grand Larceny???? A Nightclub?
It's not a matter of another Marakesh, Cause God forbid Westhamptonites should have somwhere to go, Its more of how many times we will let CRIMINALS run free, ...more
