Organizers postpone Westhampton Beach St. Patrick's Day parade until Saturday, March 27

Mar 10, 2010 11:20 AM

Due to torrential rain and strong winds predicted for this weekend, the Westhampton Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 27. The parade will still begin at noon.

Tim Laube, the chairman of the Westhampton Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, made the decision Wednesday morning to postpone the parade, which was originally scheduled to take place this Saturday, March 13.

The parade route will be the same, and organizers hope that all the bagpipe bands and other marchers will still be able to attend on March 27. Please note that a supplement inserted in this week’s edition of The Press was already printed and could not be changed to reflect the new date.

If this March truly "goes out like a lamb", then I for one will be happy to see the parade on 3/27. Year after year I freeze to death at St. Paddy's Day parades. Wish his feast day was in April not March!!! On the other hand, some will be robbed of their excuse to "have a wee drop of spirits" to keep warm!

In the rain, vewing attendance and parade and float attemdance would suffer. Would you want your child marching in the cold pouring rain ? OR would you allow your child or family member to stand in the cold pouring rain to watch a ...more
