Westhampton Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee schedules fund-raiser

Feb 17, 2010 1:57 PM

The Westhampton Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee will hold its annual parade fund-raiser on
Saturday, February 27, from 7 to 11 p.m., at Casey’s Dance Hall and Saloon on Montauk Highway in Westhampton Beach.

The festivities will include dancing, music performed by bagpipers, food, a cash bar and raffles. Raffle prizes will include a chance to win a four-night
trip to Las Vegas, a week-long ski
trip package to Mt. Snow in Vermont, and a foursome package for a round of golf at a local country club. Raffle tickets are $1 each, or six for $5.

In addition, the committee is now selling cash raffle tickets for $100 each, and contestants will be eligible to win a grand prize of $5,000. Cash raffle tickets must be purchased in advance and only a limited number will be sold.

General admission tickets for the fund-raiser are $20 each. All proceeds will benefit the Westhampton Beach 2010 St. Patrick’s Day Parade, scheduled for Saturday, March 13, at noon. For more information, or to buy event and raffle tickets, call 560-6392 or e-mail info@whbstpats.com.

Unbelievable, business as usual. Who are the people in charge of this fund raiser. The proceeds go to the parade? How about charity? Maybe Haiti? WHB should be paying more attention to its' disfunctional Village govt. than a parade . Shame on you.

I know it is spelled "dysfunctional" sorry.

Get a life, Nellie. Other than making the street available and providing some services, the village has nothing to do with the parade. The committee that runs the parade is a non-profit that has expenses to meet - that's what the funds are raised for.

That hundreds or thousands of people young and old appreciate this entertainment don't share your views should be considered before YOU decide what's right. We'll have to append the old "Everybody loves a parade" with "except that old ...more

sure the parade is inconvienent for some, but what else is going to get that many people on Main Street this time of year? I bet the insurance alone is a huge expense.

my family looks forward to it every year, as do many others.

Sad very sad....just don't get arrested by a WHB cop who is told it is ok to lie to his superiors by the Village trustees. WAKE UP!

First of all, it looks like you live in Sag Harbor so what do you care?! Second of all, many of my personal friends spend alot of time and energy trying to put together the parade every year so that this community doesnt turn into the retirement home that people like you want it to become. Let us have our fun! I look forward to this parade every year. It's symbolic of the end of the long winter and puts summer in our sights. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with politics, or Haiti for that matter. ...more

You need to look at the world..Haiti does matter. You forget you rely on us OUTSIDERS to celebrate in your parade. It is funny how a parade is so important but Real life gets dismissed. Have fun..eat, drink and be merry and enjoy your parade. I am sure St. Patrick would be real proud.

First of all, I never called you an outsider. I just said since you dont live here, you should mind your business because you obviously dont understand the wonderful community we have here besides the stupid politics! Second of all, I donated as much as I COULD to Haiti so don't you dare tell me I dont look at the world. You don't know me. But you obviously think you know what Westhampton is all about and you do not. Do not try and tell me that REAL life gets dismissed. Before you judge people maybe ...more

I am entitled to my opinion as you are. Enjoy your parade.

thank you

You are completely off base here and should learn the truth before you go spouting. You are correct that the Haitian crisis is far more important than some silly little parade, but why stop there? How bout genocide in Darfur, landslides in Portugal or even the wars our nation is currently fighting in both Iraq and Afghanistan. There is enough out there to halt any fun anywhere forever! But isn't that more than just a little ridiculous? As far as the fundraiser here ...more

nellie, perhaps you are in agreement with the board member who dislikes the sign advertising the parade, which now is just outside the village on Riverhead Rd.Sad there are those that can't en joy a tradition where families can enjoy a day of fun . sorry you can't see the good cheer this brings , for m e, I thank the commitee for all thier hard work, and look forward to another great parade.

Nellie, you are more than welcomed to attend the next Parade Committee meeting on Monday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Micole's in Westhampton Beach. Their meetings are posted on their website: www.whbstpats.com. I am sure the hard-working locals that are the committee would enjoy hearing your views and then maybe you could find out about the money and time they devote to local charities.
