11th Annual Polar Bear Plunge Takes Place In Southampton Saturday

Dec 17, 2014 10:56 AM

The 11th annual Polar Bear Plunge took place at Coopers Beach in Southampton Village Saturday morning, with 325 people running into the water in 39-degree weather.

While participants have always plunged with quirky costumes, this year featured a costume contest, with individual and group winners scoring gift cards to local restaurants. On Saturday, the Epleys took first place for group costume as characters from the Wizard of Oz and the individual prize went to Jimmy Mack as a mermaid were crowned the winners.

Every year, the plunge benefits the food pantry at Human Resources of the Hamptons, a Southampton-based charity that helps roughly 6,000 people with not only its pantry, but clothing donations and crisis intervention services. An estimated $50,000 was raised this year. DANA SHAW PHOTOS

The Epley's what took first place?
If you mean a group of people named Epley took first place, then there should not be an apostrophe.
