Kardashian Clan Leases Jobs Lane Store In Southampton Village

May 21, 2014 9:28 AM

The Kardashians, the stars of the cable reality series, have officially signed a lease for a storefront in Southampton Village.

According to Southampton Village Mayor Mark Epley, on Thursday the famous family penned a contract for a vacant spot in the building next to the Driver’s Seat restaurant on Jobs Lane.

This week, Irma Herzog, the owner of 64 Jobs Lane, said she is happy the reality ladies will be opening their pop-up store, DASH, in her building, adding that she is hopeful that it will be a successful summer season. “I welcome the Kardashian sisters and their staff as I welcome all of my tenants,” she said. “I wish them success.”

As for complaints that the Kardashians will bring paparazzi and drama with them, Ms. Herzog said she is not worried, as the paparazzi will be here strictly for the Kardashians and not bother anyone else.

In March, E! Entertainment Television announced the next iteration of the Kardashians’ popular “Take” franchise, “Kourtney and Khloé Take The Hamptons”—in tune with previous “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” spinoffs, including “Kourtney and Kim Take Miami” and “Kourtney and Kim Take New York.”

The series is set to premiere this fall.

“Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” now in its ninth season, follows the personal and professional lives of the Kardashian/Jenner family and has spurred a number of spinoffs. This is the first focused on the East End.

This summer, sisters Kourtney and newly single Khloé along with Scott Disick—an Eastport native and Kourtney’s longtime love—will be relocating their SoHo-based DASH store to a new spot in the city, while managing the initial struggles of opening their first pop-up boutique in the Hamptons

This week, an unverified Facebook page, titled “Kourtney and Khloé Take The Hamptons,” announced that the sisters will arrive in the Hamptons on June 2 to begin filming. It is unclear at this time if this is an official page for the show, and the date has not been confirmed. Village officials have confirmed that the sisters have not so far filed for any film permits in Southampton Village, which will be necessary for any scenes shot inside or outside of the Jobs Lane store, or anything featuring Main Street.

Although Ms. Herzog said this week that she does not know if the sisters plan to film their reality television series inside or outside, she said she made it clear to the sisters that they must follow all village and town ordinances while renting her building.

“As far as the negative comments toward my decision to lease this space go, I have been in this community for over 30 years,” she said. “I have and continue to be committed to the success of the business district and the people of this village.

“I wish everyone a healthy, happy, and safe summer in the Hamptons and throughout the world,” she added.

You so do have to love the commercialization, exploitation, and selling out of your home. Our idea, and the citdiot idea of "country" are apparently two disparate worlds...

It's sad and pathetic to be truthful. Pitiful, and lamentable even.

The absolute most pathetic thing I've observed are the people who come to the "country", but want it white glove clean and pristine, thus rendering it's purpose worth squat.

I bet Southampton would take a visit from the Kardashians over your life sentence with Alec Baldwin any day. The Kardashians appear to at least be civil and appreciate all races, creeds, genders and people that are different than they are.

Since when has Alec Baldwin caused any kind of problem or commotion in Southampton? He doesn't even live here, he lives in Amagansett and so far as I know he hasn't caused any problems there in the past 20 or so years.

I don't get the clutch the pearls reaction to the Kardashians, I worked in the village in the 80's and part of the 90's (high school - college) The quality of summer visitors can't have improved that much since then. The crowd that summered in the Hamptons before Black Monday were not exactly the warm fuzzy types...more like nouveau riche and obnoxious. After black Monday...less high end sports cars on Main Street, but the visitors were still very obnoxious and entitled. While some might find ...more

What pstevens said. The East End was never Torquay (although the resemblance WAS greater before the Arab oil embargo made it THE HAMPTONS.) For over thirty years, we've all made our money from a summer population that is all flash and no class. The Kardasians are a perfect fit. Hope they spend a lot.

People like the Kardashians don't spend. They get comped.

Proof of this comes from other sources reporting the Kardashians store is coming RENT FREE.

The owner of The Driver's Seat, which owns the building, isn't charging the Kardashians rent. Rather they're getting their back scratched by having the restaurant on TV and having the K clan film some portions of episodes eating in the restaurant. Hmmm.... looks like btdt is 100% right.

pstevens - why is it not plausable to you? The Driver's Seat had incredibly bad press last year due to having an employee with hepatitis. Not only will having the store next to their restaurant increase traffic, but having the restaurant on TV will ensure traffic in the future (perhaps during the slower months when the show airs).

Is it not reasonable to assume that people who want to catch a glimpse of the kardashians (or other celebs) won't hang out at the back bar for an hour or two ...more
By Nature (2966), Hampton Bays on May 23, 14 2:18 PM

You're worrying about the Kardasians? Oh for the good old days when Mrs. Sherril and her friends only had to worry about the Bee Gees renting the Ark on the Ocean, the curve across from the Meadow Club. The Ark burnt down in the fall. Remember those days when the summer people came out on Memorial Day and left on Labor day?

Morley King, A bartender in Sag Harbor once famously said about summer Tourists: They come out here for the weekend with a hundred dollar bill and a clean white shirt and they don't change either one of them!!!
You guys have always hated the tourist and summer. Yet, I hear no complaining when you sell the family house (bought for $10,000) for a couple of million. You cant have it both ways kids.

The "old guard" had respect for this place. They came out, summered, and left the locals in relative peace in the off season.

The nouveau riche who have come here in the last decade or so with their fortunes printed out of thin air by the Fed have wrecked everything that made this place so country, bucolic, and downright lovely. Tearing down historic homes, putting up god awful ugly houses, and driving expensive cars poorly. Some idiot called it paradise, and now what it was has been ...more
