The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill will host an informational session on Saturday regarding its upcoming annual request for funding.

Parrish Deputy Director Chris Siefert will attend the meeting, which begins at 11 a.m. at the museum, located at 279 Montauk Highway, to address questions from the public.

In a public referendum scheduled for early next month, qualified Southampton School District voters will be asked to contribute $339,569 to the museum—nearly $13,000 more than the current year—via a special tax levy to help finance its operation. Those funds, officials said, will help cover exhibit and program expenses for the 2017-18 school year.

One of the programs previously established using museum funds was the Residents Benefits Program. It was launched in 2014 and allows those who sign up to enjoy free admission to the museum.

The requested funding permits the museum to offer free admission to students and children under the age of 18, as well as a reduced admission for senior citizens. Additionally, the money allows the museum to provide both on-site and off-site programming with local teachers, art classes, tours and workshops for children, programs for all ages, and more than 100 public programs. The facility also offers five different exhibitions annually.

Qualified school district residents can vote on the funding resolution on Saturday, June 3, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., at the Parrish Art Museum.
