Pyrrhus Concer Property Is Focus Of Suffolk County Historical Society Lecture

Dr. Allison McGovern, an independent archaeologist who teaches at Farmingdale State College, and Dr. Georgette Grier-Key, a member of the Pyrrhus Concer Action Committee, discussed the historic Pyrrhus Concer property, located at 51 Pond Lane in Southampton Village, during a lecture hosted by the Suffolk County Historical Society on Saturday in Riverhead. The estimated two dozen attendees learned about the latest efforts to preserve the property that once belonged to Mr. Concer, a 19th century African-American Southampton resident who was also a whaler.
