Suspicious Man Approaches Female Jogger At Long Beach

Feb 8, 2012 10:30 AM

A man tried to encourage a female jogger to get into his car in the Long Beach parking lot in Noyac at about 2:30 p.m. last Thursday, Southampton Town Police said.

The woman told police she was approached by the man, whom she described as a middle-aged Hispanic man wearing a black zippered fleece jacket and a plain blue baseball cap, after he parked a small green sedan, exited the car and asked her for directions to an unspecified bank.

The man then placed his
arm around the jogger’s
shoulders and asked her to
“come show” him where the bank was, the woman told police.

The woman told police she then became alarmed and struck the man in the head with an iPod. She then fled.

Police said on Monday that the suspect was possibly driving a green, four-door Mitsubishi Diamonte.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the incident to call them at 702-2230.

I'm sure he really just wanted directions-strangers always put their hands on other's shoulders. A real charmer.

I'm pretty sure that he was hitting on her, albeit grimily, and the she assaulted him. which makes him the criminal and her the victim.

How dare he invade her personal space. Milkdilk is a real moron. Why would he think it was okay for some strange man to touch her. Issues there I guess!

I say trust your instincts in a case like this. This woman was frightened and did what we teach our daughters to do--get the heck out of there and report the incident!

Really? I hope that is sarcasm They call Me. Do you often walk up to strangers and put your arm around them?

I have unlocked the story. It was available in its entirety for several days while it was considered "breaking news," but became locked after a time when it became an archived story. All archived stories are available in their entirety to subscribers. Thanks all for the input.

This Hispanic male is still at large. Hope he doesn't attack another woman. Things like this didn't happen even a few years ago.

I have to humbly disagree Tiana Bob, Degenerates come in all colors & nationalities , I just think it's a shame that a woman or a child should have to feel so scared when they are alone walking on a beach or on a street, too many pieces of crap wandering around !
