Cops: Quogue Business Owners Report Theft Of Various Tools On Friday

Jun 25, 2019 12:54 PM

Three separate Quogue business owners reported on Friday that someone stole various tools from several work vehicles parked along Industrial Boulevard, according to police.

The thefts occurred between the hours of 7:30 and 9 a.m. on June 21, Quogue Village Police Chief Christopher Isola said.

Two of the business owners reported that approximately $1,000 worth of various tools were stolen, crimes that police have classified at petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

The third victim reported that more than $2,000 worth of tools were stolen from a company van. Because of the higher total value of the stolen items, police have classified the incident as fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

However, Chief Isola said that the charges could escalate after the businesses' total monetary losses are calculated.

One of the business owners also reported that the passenger-side window of his company’s work vehicle was broken, according to police, who are investigating the incident as fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

Chief Isola said on Tuesday that Quogue Village Police detectives are continuing to investigate the incidents.
