Over 300 athletes sweated their hearts out in the 24th annual Montauk Lighthouse Sprint Triathlon on Sunday morning.

The tri includes a half-mile swim, point-to-point to Gin Beach, a 14-mile bike ride over rolling hills through Montauk, finishing at the lighthouse, and a 3.1-mile, or 5K, run on closed, paved roads. It includes an individual race, an aquabike race which excludes the run, and a relay portion.

Brendan Martin, 30, won the individual race in 1:06:38. Martin is from Huntington Station, the hometown of Peter Ventura, who placed seventh overall this year in 1:12:14.8. Following Martin was Shawn Faurot, 40, who finished in 1:10:09, while third place was taken by Kenneth Moore, 44, just 15 seconds after Faurot. Samuel Martini, 44, finished fourth in 1:10:39, and James Scott, 27, rounded out the top five in 1:11:30.5.

Caitlin Dowd, 28, repeated as female champion of the individual race in 1:13:13, which placed her ninth overall. Suzy Heffernan, 48, placed second among women (21st overall) in 1:16:58, followed by Olivia Ebenstein, 16, in 1:17:34:0, which placed her 24th overall. Kristen Neimeth, 49, finished fourth (33rd overall) in 1:19:30:1, and Jennifer Charvat, 46, finished fifth (52nd overall) in 1:22:56:9.
