Sep 4, 2019 11:43 AM

One person was extricated from a vehicle after being involved in a two-vehicle crash in Hampton Bays on Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews responded to a call about an accident at the intersection of Montauk Highway and Bellows Pond Lane at 10:50 a.m.

Southampton Town Police said Muriel Ashley, 65, of East Quogue was driving north in a 200 Jeep SUV on East Tiana Road when the Jeep crossed over Montauk Highway when the traffic light was green. As the vehicle crossed over Montauk Highway, Anne Fay, 80, of Water Mill was driving west in a 2012 Honda sedan when she ran a red light, and her Honda crashed into Ms. Ashley’s vehicle.

Police said a woman was trapped inside her vehicle, although she was conscious and alert. On Wednesday, police said they did not know whether Ms. Ashley or Ms. Fay was stuck in the vehicle.

Both women were taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police added that the roads stayed open.
