Raymond H. Lechleider Sr.

Raymond H. Lechleider Sr. of Hampton Bays died on Sunday, June 7. He was 71.

Mr. Lechleider was self-employed as a tool and die maker in Manhattan.

Active in the community, he was a member of the Hand-Aldrich American Legion Ambulance, now known as the Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance. He was also active in the parish of St. Rosalie’s Roman Catholic Church in Hampton Bays. He served as a eucharistic minister and was a former member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus.

According to loved ones, he could always be counted on to help others.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pat; three daughters, Anne Buckley and her husband Jerry, Ellen Brookins and her husband Keran, and Patricia Pensa and her husband Dominico Jr., all of Hampton Bays; two sons, Raymond H. Lechleider Jr. and his wife Nancy of New Jersey, and William Lechleider and his wife Kerry of Hampton Bays; a brother, Richard and his wife Claudette of Illinois; a sister, Eleanor Caracci and her husband 
Nicholas of New York; and 13 grandchildren, Megan and Gerard Buckley III, Timothy, Matthew and Tessa Lechleider, Kathryn, Daniel and Margaret Lechleider, Connor and Cathleen Brookins, and Dominico III, Alison and Christian Pensa.

A wake was held at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on June 9. A funeral service was held at St. Rosalie’s Church on June 10 with family members serving as pallbearers. Interment followed at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Greater New York Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 425 Broadhollow Road, Suite 318, Melville, NY 11947 would be appreciated by the family.
