Oct 22, 2019 3:18 PMAn SUV crashed into a utility pole on County Road 39 in Southampton on Monday morning, prompting police to close eastbound travel lanes, which considerably slowed traffic.
Southampton Town Police responded to the accident shortly after 5:56 a.m. near North Sea Road. No injuries were reported.
PSEG also arrived on the scene shortly after the crash and crews worked to replace the pole through the morning rush. The road was closed for six hours after the accident.
Commuters experienced over a 30-minute delay as two eastbound lanes merged into one to get past the accident scene.
