An intoxicated captain crashed his 39-foot boat into a dock in North Haven late Saturday evening, injuring himself and two passengers on board, according to Southampton Town Police.

Town Police responded to the scene at 11:23 p.m. and arrested Gary Lucas, 66, of Sag Harbor and charged him with boating while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

Police said the vessel struck a dock at 370 Ferry Road and overturned with five people on board. Mr. Lucas sustained injuries to his face and leg and was transported by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. The two injured passengers were transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

Members of the Southampton Town Bay Constables, Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance and Sag Harbor Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Mr. Lucas was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear at Southampton Town Justice Court on August 28 for an arraignment. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Town Police Lieutenant James Kiernan said on Thursday that two of the three victims have been released from the hospital and have minor injuries. The third victim is still in the hospital and has undergone several surgeries, he said.
