Southampton Town Attorney Tiffany Scarlato has officially resigned from her post at Town Hall.
Ms. Scarlato’s official last day will be Friday, January 15. The Town Board voted unanimously on Tuesday to accept the resignation, which had been expected for several weeks. Immediately afterward, Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman expressed his thanks to Ms. Scarlato, who was not in attendance, for her years of service to the town and wished her luck.
The Town Board also voted on Tuesday to name Kathleen Murray the acting town attorney until a permanent replacement can be found. Ms. Murray had been offered Ms. Scarlato’s position but turned it down.
Last week, Mr. Schneiderman said he hoped have a permanent replacement as soon as possible, but said it might have to wait to make a recommendation until there is a full Town Board in February, after Brad Bender’s former seat has been filled by the January 26 special election.
Mr. Schneiderman has said there are two candidates being interviewed for the position, but declined to name them. However, sources have confirmed that NancyLynn Ferrini, who is currently counsel for the State Senate majority in Albany—and is the wife of State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr.—is the front-runner for the position.
The Southampton Town Board voted unanimously on Tuesday to designate the Goodwill African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, on Flanders Road in Riverside, a historic landmark.
The church had been recommended for historic preservation because of its significance to the African-American community on the East End.
As for Mr Yastremski: During his tenure at village hall the budget has skyrocketed. The village can manage the ridiculous increases in spending because the taxes are carried by the $50 & $100 million dollar homes along the ocean which ...more belong to people who can't vote in local elections. The rest of the town does not have that luxury and can not afford Mr Yasremski's lack of fiscal restraint.
Vote for economic sanity, vote for Julie!
I find it interesting that the republican candidate oversaw massive tax increases in the village and questionable accommodations to the mayor's developer father-in-law. Haven't we had enough give aways to developers in town hall already?
VOTE for David Calone in the June primary between long time Democrat Calone vs. Ms. Anna.
Lofstad vs. Bumpstead.
VOTE = JULIE LOFSTAD ON Jan 26th.
