A vandal—perhaps a serial vandal—has struck the East Hampton Airport entrance sign a second time, marking it with a spray-painted black “V.”

The graffito appeared Friday morning on both sides of the sign. The same symbol was painted on the sign one year ago; police have never charged anyone with the vandalism.

On Friday East Hampton Town maintenance worker David Hummel was assessing how to restore the sign, much of which is covered with a vinyl decal of the image of an aircraft. Mr. Hummel said he will repaint parts of the sign that are wooden and that he might be able to clean off the rubberized decal, which is beginning to peel from weathering.

Graffito is the singular form, graffiti would be plural.

The anti-airport people have become so pathetic to repeatedly vandalize the airport sign. Absolutely disgraceful. They should be arrested.
