Aircraft Restricted At East Hampton Airport Due To Biden Visit

Aug 24, 2012 10:26 AM

A fundraising visit from Vice President Joe Biden to Bridgehampton this weekend has prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to issue temporary flight restrictions at the East Hampton Airport.

All aircraft traffic at the East Hampton Airport will be mandated to fly over the northwest corridor beginning Friday 6:30 p.m. to Saturday 1 a.m., according to a posting of the restriction on the FAA’s website.

East Hampton Town Councilman Dominick Stanzione emphasized that the restriction is ordered by the federal government.

“This is everything,” Mr. Stanzione said. “Every flight— everything that comes out of that airport . . . is restricted for that period of time for the order of the FAA.”

Mr. Biden will attend a fundraiser on Friday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the home of Ellen Chesler and Matthew Mallow in Bridgehampton, according to an event invitation.

Peace and quiet in the air for a change?

I hope he has his caregivers with him to remind him what state he is in, which century it is and see to it he does not mix his meds with too much booze. We don't need crazy Uncle Joe falling down drunk again.

Deus Ex Machina !!!

A great de facto demonstration of the qualitative changes that ARE POSSIBLE if the EH Town Board WANTS them.

The behind-closed-doors good old boy network may get a wake up call here?

Note Maestro Dom's defensive posture that HE did not order this covertly! You can't make this stuff up I swear.

The hubris and Stanzione's Folly will of course still play out, to everyone's growing discomfort.

Hopefully the fiddle section of the Chopper ...more

I don't know why we need to restrict air space. Who would want to hurt poor ole joe Biden. Our enemies would embrace him as our leader

I'm hearing CR 39 is closed because of this. True? Makes no sense at all. Biden is flying in and out of East Hampton and going to Bridgehampton.

I know I'm going to get killed for this comment but.. The airport has been around for nearly 70 years I believe. I'm sure that for most of the people who are complaining about the noise the air traffic was present when you bought or built your house. Don't expect it to change just because you live there now. Additionally, as a resident of NYC who hears traffic noise, car horns, police sirens, etc. out of my apartment on a daily basis I have learned to just tune it out. I'm sure you could do the ...more
