Minor Injury Reported After Tractor-Trailer Overturns On Sunrise

Mar 21, 2012 11:25 AM

There were no serious injuries reported after a tractor-trailer overturned in the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway, near the County Road 111 exit in Manorville, on Friday afternoon, according to New York State Police.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, who has not been identified, apparently lost control while traveling in the right lane at around 2 p.m. due to wet road conditions, police said. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The driver complained of back pain and was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The right westbound lane of Sunrise Highway was closed for about two hours while the scene was being cleared. For a brief time, both westbound lanes were closed to traffic, police said. The scene was cleared by 4 p.m.
