Southampton Town Councilwoman Christine Scalera and Supervisor Jay Schneiderman joined local community members and representatives of Quiet Communities and the American Green Zone Alliance at the East Quogue Village Green on Wednesday morning to dedicate the first certified Green Zone Park in the Town of Southampton. The project, spearheaded by Ms. Scalera, in partnership with non-profit Quiet Communities and the alliance, introduced quieter electric-powered maintenance equipment, such as leaf blowers, mowers and weed whackers, to the park rather than louder gas-powered equipment in an effort to reduce noise levels and eliminate emissions at the park. Great photo-op Jay. You sure are a leader. What could we do without you.

You do good stuff and you get your picture in the paper? What is he supposed to do, hide? If Jay weren't showing up in the paper and online, you and a lot of other constant critics would be asking, where is he? What's he doing? Why don't we see him anywhere? You can't have it both ways.

I'd like to see him dedicating the Iron Point Park. The problem is that he took those plans and built the park in Hampton Bays. Keep putting it to the Flanders/Riverside folks, Jay.

There are more important matters in the Town Jay needs to attend ton. It's a long list. Besides,Christine Scalara was the force behind the project. No need for Schneiderman to be there. Christine is fully capable of representing the Town Board. The public would rather have seen Jay miss this event to do some work.

Hilarious!

Unless the Town charges this new equipment with a solar grid, it technically still runs on natural gas or even coal. Quieter, but is it really "green"?

Why exactly is there a video of Jay and Julie working landscaping equipment? Must be an election year.

... or their next jobs.

I find it amazing that the Town can afford all of this new equipment to be used in the very same park that the residents of East Quogue are being asked to tax ourselves to fix up.
