East Quogue Students Toss Clams To Help Heal Shinnecock Bay

East Quogue sixth-graders dropped nearly 40,000 adult clams into western Shinnecock Bay last Wednesday, May 6, as part of the Shinnecock Bay Restoration Program that is run through Stony Brook University’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences and Institute for Ocean Conservation Science. Students learned how clams filter and clean water, and why shellfish are vital to bay restoration. ALEXA GORMAN PHOTOS
