Free Ride, Dont DWI

Dec 17, 2009 10:42 AM

Hometown Taxi will offer free taxi rides between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day for those who have indulged in too much holiday cheer.

Patrons in hamlets as far west as Hampton Bays and as far east as East Hampton will be accommodated with rides within a 10-mile radius from the pick-up point. In addition, the cab company will pick up people the next morning and drive them back to their cars.

According to Hometown owner Bryan DaParma of Southampton, this service is an effort to help reduce the number of drunk drivers on the roads during the holidays.

For information, call (631) 287-5200.

what a reasonable and brilliant gesture. It's certainly helps the community and hopefully will help business. Someone should get a grant and keep it going year round. What about kids coming home from keg parties in the middle of summer. Thank you Mr. DeParma!!!

That is a nice gesture Mr. Deparma! I just think it's a shame that you have to be the one to sacrifice for other people's lack of sense and responsibility in drinking too much at a party, and thinking they are all right to drive home. I mean really! I just hope the people who take advantage of your generosity are gonna have the common sense to realize the risk and expense involved, and at least take care of your drivers.
