Author Talk, George Theotocatos "Finding Ithaka: A Modern Odyssey Across Continents" "In this compelling memoir that spans five generations and four continents, Theotocatos retraces the epic journeys of his family and ancestry who left their homes of origin and settled in new places—both by choice and in search of a safe home. Through it all, they held true to their Greek heritage and culture.As a Greek born in Egypt, the author takes us on his quest to immigrate to the United States, live the American dream and provide a better life for his children and grandchildren." George Theotocatos was born in Egypt and came to the USA in 1957 as an undergraduate student at New York University where he earned a B.S.(Mechanical Engineering),and M.S ( Operations Research). In 1976 he completed graduate studies for the Advanced Professional Certificate in International Business at NYU Graduate School of Business.Theotocatos spent nearly 30 years with Exxon affiliates in New York and New Jersey corporate offices and abroad. Almost half of his career was spent in the Middle East , holding executive positions in Libya,Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi. He travelled extensively in South America and Asia. After retirement from Exxon, he joined the East West Center at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu as a visiting scholar and participated in a leadership program coaching young leaders from several Asian countries and the USA.
